Looks like it was a good use of remnants. Great for a commercial space like that.
Deb....that really is an inteteresting granite floor....different, but very, very cool!
Phil - Thx. Yes, all throughout lunch, I was trying to figure out they made it and how thick it was (granite for countertiops is usuall 1 1/4" and for bathroom vanities 3/4" thick.
Jay - yes, I think it was...kind of a green floor, I suppose.
Larry - I'm glad you like it, too.
Debbie, this looks good for a pizza restaurant. Don't know how it would look in a home though.
Now THAT is a gorgeous floor! And I bet it works well with the tables and chairs. You do seem to catch the floors when you go places!
This post should be featured!
Now that is interesting, we are just getting ready to start redoing our floors and unique, long-lasting floors that will not beout of style in 10 years are what are considering, I like this but may not stand the test of time.
I'm not as thrilled with the floor as others have commented, it is certainly unique, and it may work best/better in a commercial/retail application, but I would not want a home floor like that myself!
That is a great looking floor. I bet it wasn't as expensive as it looks if they used remnants.
Wow! I really love this. Very interesting to say the least. Great picture.
You know if you dropped a plate or cup and it shattered into many pieces...good luck in finding them...lol
Debbie, that really is very cool looking. I can see where it would work for some people's decor!
Cool floor, I can see it working in a restaurant but might be a bit much in a home.
You always look down when you enter a room . . . too funny!! That's a nice mosiac, and you can certainly appreciate the "art" of that floor!!
Hi Debbie - I'd like to think that anyone would look down when they saw something like that. It works for a restaurant. It's like they tried to create a slate floor out of granitie....
I have seen this kind of floor in a townhouse foyer. The owners were granite workers and they used the remnants they had.
Striking, but unusual.
Debbie, this looks like a really cheap way to redo a floor. However it could end up giving you a headache after while!
For me personally, with a high D personality, this floor would drive me crazy bit I know it works for some people...
Love it...crazy stuff out there. I walked into a home with all black marble floors except around the doors and it was bright yellowy beige. Ugh
Michael - it would only work in certain spaces...needs a lot of room to look good.
Mike - It prob. does...unless owner has an "in" with a granite cpmpany.
Jay - LOL. Yes, I have no idea why this is featured.
Jennifer - cool. I hope it helps. This floor is prob super durable - prob. much more resilient vs. a regular tile floor.
Carol - Yes, it will only work in some spaces. It's a very daring floor and won't work for all tastes.
James - I have a feeling they got a good deal on it somehow.
Jay - Well there is some Ubatuba in there which is greenish in color and so glad they reused the scraps.
Janice - Thx. Yes, I thought this was a very creative floor.
Debbie - while I'm always mentally staging a room - you are always on the look out for interesting flooring (I remember RainCamp!) This one is very unique - makes a statement - good for a restuarant - a home, not so much! congrats on the feature!
Richie - Tood point. Also, I'm guessing these floors are hard on the waiters' feet.
Connie - Thx. Yes, it is neat. Maybe not for my home, but could work for some homes.
Coral - Yes, it definiitely works in this setting but not in all
Carla - Yes, I know, it's sad. It's part of who I am now. can't help it.
Ruthmarie - You're right, this is very impactful and you can't help but notice this.
Sold team - that is cool. Yes, it could work in some entryways. Smart for them to do.
Wiedler realty - this is definitely not cheap, but it is very possible they got this for a large discount. The labor on this one is high, even if granite was donated.
Corinne - Oh I agree completely. This is best for commercial setting.
Cory - LOL, yes, not good to have this type of floor if you're not feeling well.
Karen - Glad you like it. That house you mentioned sounds crazy.
Kristine - Yes, we are 2 peas in a pod...even if a different pod. Yes, this would prob. not be the best selection for most homes. But, I have seen some things in a similar vein in very large and high end homes.
Hi Debbie, Lots of different styles and colors going on there. Very original and one of a kind.
Debbie - congratulations on another great feature! I love the granite - what an awesome idea for a commercial setting but would likely work in the right home setting. Perhaps you will do one of these soon and show it to us.
I am thinking this is too hard and cold for a home - I imagine tripping on it because it looks uneven.
It's an interesting and unique look that works well in a busy restaurant. Cool pic, thanks for sharing it Debbie.
Debbie it sure is interesting and I too think the perfect place for it is the pizza restaurant.
Debbie,
These kinds of floors are fantastic. Far better than marble which ends up looking scratched and scuffed.
Brian
Barbara - thx a bunch. Yes, that would be a fun floor to work on.
Margaret - Yes, it's kind of like slate - not 100% even. This really only works in some settings.
Anita - Thx a bunch. Yes, it is rather unique.
jennifer - yes, it is perfect for this location
Brian - Thx. And, oh, yes, marble is kind of soft and porous. Granite is much harder and more resilient.
Debbie - I agree that this would look cool in a retail or commercial space but I have seen something similar in a home and it was terrible. If I remember correctly, it was one of the major drawbacks about the home selling because every room had different pieces and shapes. HUGE SELLING ISSUE!!!
Debbie....Kind of reminds me of the 70s flooring and some of the products used then. It was that kind of a look and brought with it charm and warmth all its own. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic!
Hi Debbie
Interesting floor...it would be great to see a photo of the floor and the tables too. Thanks once again for bringing great input. I was sharing some things you have done with a colleague and she may be calling you for her own home.
Donne - Yes, I think this works in commercial settings but not homes. I just posted it because I though it was interesting and creative.
Kathleen - Yes, it does, but his is very tastefully done - looks very real (because it is real).
Barb - Yes, I think I'll need to go back and snap a shot w/ the tables. Oh, and that is so cool if she calls me. Thx a bunch!
Hi Debbie,
That is a great picture. Different sizes, different colors. Probably was an assortment of left over pieces, but put together right makes a very interesting floor.
