BOX, WHAT BOX?

You now the Box, the one everyone says you should be thinking outside of. Could it be that many are thinking outside the box and have little or on knowledge of what is in the Box?  Could it be the prize is in the Box and not outside of it?  How does one know if one is thinking outside the box if one does not know what is in the Box? Perhaps one is actually thinking inside the Box.

Confusing? Only if you think  about it.  Perhaps the secret is learning what is in the Box prior to venturing outside.  To truly be creative in the Real Estate business one must spend a little time mastering what is in the Box.

What is in the Box?  That would be mastering the basics which includes such mundane things as contracts, can you paraphrase and explain every paragraph of a contract to purchase, buyer broker agreement or the definitions of agency?  If not, you you need time in the Box. Are you an expert in the housing inventory in your area?  If not, you need time in the Box.  Have you developed a written business plan for the year, the month and week? If not, you guessed it, back in the Box.  Do you have a data base with all of your clients, past clients and sphere of influence?  No, back in the Box.

Simplistic, maybe, but consider this, the top producers have mastered the Box to the extent that they don't have to think about the contents, it is second nature.  Whether a new agent, or an experienced agent that is in a slump,  take the time to refresh and master the Box. Once the Box is mastered you will also have removed a great deal of anxiety and doubt and thinking out side the box is not hampered by concern over unfinished things in the Box.

Mastering the contents of the Box is not hard, but it does take discipline. We lose almost 98% of new agents within two years, most of which consider the Box to be beneath them. They flit around outside the Box impressing themselves with their own creativity while going broke.

Master the contents of the Box, and then spread your wings and see how much further your creativity will take you.

See you around the Box
