This morning I emailed Micky in Iraq asked for permission to turn his profile picture pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. He is a surprisingly easy going Tough Guy and he told me yes without even asking any follow up questions like could I change him back later. (Now that you've thought of that Micky, yes, I will.)
He's on the move now "over there" and I haven't been hearing from him as much. I worry about him and miss him, and he's "just a friend." I wonder how hard it must be for all of you with husbands, wives, kids and childhood best friends over there. I thought maybe you missed him too, or someone over there, and hearing a little something from Iraq might help. So after I asked to turn him pink, I asked if I could post some pictures he sent me. He said yes again. :o) So here's a little Tough Guy Iraqi news, by way of West Virginia.
Somehow Micky and I started talking about bunnies. His thoughts can be as random as mine and I'm not surprised by ANY subject that comes up anymore. Sometimes he must get bored, because he listens to me without complaining. I told him about getting scared by a rabbit when I went to check the mail, and how I embellished the story into a tall tale for Tall One and Little One. The Japanese word for bunny is "usagi" (not a very cute sounding word), and we learned it from our exchange student. In my tall tale, the Ninja Bunny came flying out of the mailbox yelling, "UUUUSAAAAGIIIII!" and scared me half to death. Now we look for Ninja Bunnies before checking the mail. Yep, we learned.
Micky told me the rabbits in Iraq are different, a lot bigger with ears that look like they're about a foot long. One of them had been living under a CHU (trailer, whatever they call them) and dashing out at him when he least expected it. The girls giggled at the thought of Tough Guy getting scared by a little bunny. Micky's a good Dad with little girls of his own, and he liked the idea of making my girls laugh and maybe even educating them a little.
He went on the hunt for Iraqi Usagis.
It took him a few days, but he finally captured a couple photos of the elusive Iraqi Usagi. They look like our bunnies, but much bigger and with longer ears, he said. See for yourself.
This may not seem like a real estate post or a soldier post, and it's not. It's a friends post. Micky went out of his way all the way over there in Iraq just to make us way over here in West Virginia laugh.
Now, it's up to you to either decide that this post doesn't belong here, or think a little about the message -- how you might have a little fun, spend just a couple minutes and make someone's day a little better. Think how much better your business might be if you only tightened up one connection a day like that. I want to do business with someone I know and trust, don't you?
There. Iraq > West Virginia > Bunnies > Business. And you thought I couldn't get there.
Thanks for the use of your blog space, Micky. You look GOOD in pink!!! I miss you, stay safe and have sweet bridesmaids dreams.
MWA!!
