Are we as an industry educating ourselves on what is really happening in the world of technology today?

Most if not all of the agents I have spoken with over the past 24 months have no idea of what is really going on regarding the direction of the industry and how the net is really affecting them. Addtionally, few of them really show any concern!

Another man before his time, John knew something about education. What can we learn from John?

Are we studying the Internet, so that our children may be able to study some other form of higher education?

It is said that 80% of first time home buyers go to the internet first to start their job search. So if you are not on the internet,you are missing out big time. I really don't think a lot of us are studying the internet as we ought to. Great post.

I know the author of that study, as we are friends, and also working on some other projects together in NYC right now. She understands this business as a consumer, as an investor, and as an IT professional.

If you think that is good, you should read her first book. With an open mind, you will appreciate what is said. When times were great, many realtors and professionals thought that she was insane, but she is brutally visionary.

Thanks to all of you for your comments.

I just finished watching the above conference presentation about our industry. It was given to an audience of apartment rental agents. You must go watch this. It is about 1 hour, but believe me, this will be the best hour of your career. Your future really does depend on it.

I have been blogging now about this for weeks, however, to hear someone with a PHD speak about this and give charts and graphs, well, just go watch. Please get this info out to everyone you know. It is mission critical.

Danielle certainly is right on point. I will pick up and read her book and found the comments of other industry leaders in the rental market to be very insightful and intriguing.

I just wish our industry was more proactive instead of reactive when it comes to technology and the direction we are heading with our data.

You will be soooooo far ahead of the curve if you implemented just 20% of what she has to say......

given that, I also have to tell you that people will be inclined to say it won't happen, or it can't happen....well we called it right 2 years ago when we say today's market coming, and she called it right before that regarding the power of the internet in transforming our biz.
