ActiveRain RIPS OFF ITS CUSTOMERS!

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Executives Associates

ActiveRain called me 3 times a day to get me to try the RainMaker Program. "It's only $1 for a 2 month trial, and you can cancel it before you have to pay the full amount."

This was the sales pitch I received. Finally I decided to try it, before the trial ended I decided to cancel the RainMaker program because it just wasn't for me.

It took nearly a FULL WEEK, before anyone would get back to me on cancelling RainMaker.  Where were the sales staff that called me 3 times a day???  So finally I receive an email back that says, we are sorry for the inconvenience and we have cancelled your RainMaker account.  But this morning I am looking at my bank statements and discover that I have been billed the full RainMaker charge for the past 2 MONTHS!

WHAT the HELL do I have to do to get this program stopped!!!

I am telling EVERYONE I KNOW, EVERYWHERE I CAN POST IT that ACTIVERAIN will not respond to it's customers and has HORRIBLE customer service!!!

HELP! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

I found their customer service to be excellent and I got someone immediately when I called.  They have been good to me.

Jeff, I am sorry you had such a bad experience.  Mine has been just the flip side of yours.  I never received the sales calls from ActiveRain.  I found out about it from an active member.  I joined with the first month being $1.00 and I have to say that was the best dollar I ever spent - ever!  I used that month to just look around a little, attend the free on-line classes, and at the end of the month posted my first blog.

I have gained an excellent networking base, learned more new things in less that a year than ever before in an entire year, AND I have made money as a result of ActiveRain.  I realize that you get what you put in to anything and I did put in lots of time and effort.  The results have exceeded my expectations.  I am wondering what you put into ActiveRain.  ActiveRain is not a magic bullet...you have to put effort into it.  Did you attend the free ActiveRain on-line classes?

I am sure you will receive your money back.  What a lot of time to spend on something so negative - wonder what this time spent doing some positive marketing would bring?  The people who seem to gain the most from ActiveRain are positive, forward thinking people who encourage each other every day.  There are so many awesome positive ActiveRain stories I could tell you, but I can see it would not be a good positive use of my time and I won't do that.

Surely there is an explanaton for this.  They have always been available when I call, and very helpful.  Personally, I would do without groceries before I would do without my Rainmaker account.  Activerain has been the best $39 per month I have EVER spent.  Sorry you have had a bad experience.

What consistitutes a "rip off" ...One poor customer service issue ?

Does your business always run seamless every day?.  Do you have an assistant that is less than perfect?  How about yourself?  Would you like to be the recipient of this type of negative behaviour if there was a glitch in the communications between you, the buyer, the seller, the co-broker, the title agent, the attorney, the inspector, the termite report that comes back active and you know you are in possession of a different report that indicates cleair?

Certianly there are other avenues to travel down to get the same results rather than ranting? Even in the world of credit cards disputes it takes 30 to 90 days to find resolution.  Perhaps you should explore several before shouting out to the entire world.

Jeff - hoping that you get your issue resolved quickly. I have generally found the customer service to be good here, but then, I have not tried cancelling a paid service here yet.

I hope your post here will get someone from AR to contact you and fix the issue. They have been after me too and the trial sounds OK but I haven't done it for the very reason you stated. I've had problems in the past getting out of several things I signed up for. After having to deal with that kind of battle several times makes you gun shy -- at least it does for me. I always hesitate to sign up for reduced trial offers because of the trouble in getting back out later. Good Luck to you and let us know how it turns out.

Wow, seems like someone is having a bad and negative hair day!  I can understand not being happy about being charged full price on your credit card and wanting your money back but I think there might be a gentler way to get that accomplished rather than trashing AR for what doesn't seem to be their normal way of doing business and they would want to fix it.

You are one of the few folks I have heard of to be unhappy with what AR has to offer.  Hopefully AR will jump in here and with that in mind I am going to "Suggest" this to see if they and others will respond on their experiences, good and bad.

I've read and heard of many problems folks have had from other real estate services trying to cancel and get their money refunded which can make people hesitate to provide their credit card info for trial offers.  I think it best if a trial offer is offered that no credit card info should be required until the trial is over and you wish to use/join the service.

That stinks you didn't get your money's worth. The change to build business and cultivate new business relationships is well worth the 2$.

Maybe there is some confusion.  I called and emailed to have the promotional RainMaker program cancelled BEFORE the full price was charged.  After almost a week, an "authorized" sales person contacted me to say that I was removed from the program.  However, 2 months later, I am still in the program and they keep deducting the full amount from my debit card.  I can't seem to make them stop.

In addition, I sent the exact same email directly to the support line as I blogged about above.  So now guess what, STILL NO RESPONSE FROM ACTIVE RAIN.  Maybe those of you who think I am being rude because I don't love ActiveRain as much as you, could please contact ActiveRain for me before I am charged AGAIN!

I am happy to report that after 2 months, ActiveRain has apologized for the billing and are in the process of refunding the $118 that was taken from my debit card without authorization.
