We love exploring the cuisines of all nations. One of the fundamental things we have in common with every nation is food and the preparation thereof. We have made friends world wide because of our love of all cuisines, and also made deals in our real estate practice. On one occasion, we met a man from Lebanon who was lamenting that he could not find "bulgur" (cracked wheat, an essential ingredient for Middle Easten cooking) and his wife was beside herself.
Having lived in Beirut, Lebanon, the first few years of my life, I knew exactly what he was talking about as we love Lebanese food, and it is part of our cooking repertoire. Next time we met to show him property, we brought along a 5lb bag of bulgur, and the addresses of the places which carry it. He was delighted as was his wife, and we closed a deal.
Santa Barbara is a small city with a cosmopolitan appetite. We are blessed with many wonderful ethnic restaurants. We recently discovered a Lebanese restaurant in town, Zaytoon, (meaning olive in Arabic). Last night we dined there. We love the caual atmosphere, the authentic food and flavors, as well as their enormous garden patio for outdoor dining. They have designed their tables to include a firepit, so one can dine in the cool of the evening and still be warm.
One of their specialty desserts is homemade baklava, as pictured above. They added ice cream and a couple of dollops of whipped cream, and a drizzle of honey. This is one those dessets to eat, when every bite is worth the caloric intake.
YOU CAN EAT YOURSELF TO SUCCESS!
Happy Saturday, Cheers Ron and Alexandra
