Speechless Sunday:  Rattlesnakes and Roses

My sweet dog found this rattlesnake the hard way.  He's spending a few days at the vet's office as a result.

rattlesnake

(Notice the missing head... my beloved husband HATES snakes.  He wasn't taking any chances on this monster...)

But, from the same land comes these beauties that we picked today:

roses

"Without rain, the flowers won't bloom.  Without pain, the joy in life won't show".  (Anonymous)

Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday!

Oh no, Tara! Your poor pooch! Will he make it?

I just recently killed a rattler in my yard. Here's my post on it: "I've Been Bitten!"- Temecula Home Inspector.

Tara, if he's a large dog, he'll be ok. As a matter of fact I had a female lab that was bit so many times I didn,t have to take to the vet.

Tell your husband to skin that sucker. Worth some $$$. I've sold several snake skins to boot co's. thru the years.

My wife chases little garter snakes with the lawnmower...they always stick their heads up eventually.

Mike - I doubt I could convince him to touch the thing without a 10-foot pole.  But maybe I will.  ;-)

Kim - snakes don't bother me as long as they're not poisonous.  But my husband hates even the non-poisonous ones.

Ranchers I knew in Del Rio, and Cajuns here in Louisiana both swear by an outside cat. Apparently "Garfield" will kill many of the baby snakes around the house.

Hope your dog is Ok, I hate snakes too. My cat is a great hunter but we rarely find one.  Have not encountered a rattler in the Hill Country at all even though I know they are here.  We've just never seen one and we go in the country all the time.

I doubt the dog will ever mess with another rattlesnake after this.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.  It's hard when our furry family members have to be away from home at the vet.

Hi all!  Sounds like our dog is going to be OK - just another night in the "hospital".  And you're right Chris Ann - he'll never make THAT mistake again!
