Oceanside Harbor
The Oceanside Harbor is a popular local attraction for residents and tourists and reminds me of the many fishing villages on the east coast.
The Oceanside Harbor has several small stores, gift shops, and places to eat including Joe's Crab Shack, Monterey Bay Canners, and the Jolly Roger. The harbor lighthouse, though non-operational, is an iconic landmark.
Visitors can rent boats or kayaks, book a whale watching tour, or go on a deep sea fishing excursion. Strolling the walkways near the marina you will see gulls, pelicans, and sea lions swimming in the waterway. Parking can be limited with a free two-hour limit near the shops and also a paid parking area nearby.
Harbor Beach
Harbor Beach, directly to the west, is one of the widest sand beaches in the area. A wide swath of sandy beach where swimming and surfing areas are clearly marked. Maintained by the city of Oceanside, there are fire rings, picnic tables, barbecue grills, volleyball courts, restrooms and showers available for use.
The Strand
To the south of the beach is an area locally known as The Strand, home to condominium villages, timeshares, beach front cottages, and private residences.
Homeowner's in this area enjoy the beach areas, and during the peak season have many vacationing neighbors from all over the world. Vacationers can usually find excellent off peak rates and accomodations in the non-summer months.

A little further to the south of The Strand is the Oceanside Pier. It is one of the longest piers on the West Coast and extends nearly a quarter mile over the ocean.
