The debut of Palm Desert’s new Aquatic Center in Civic Center Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 25. The Grand Opening will begin at 10 a.m. with a one-hour ceremony followed by a day full of entertainment and fun for the entire family. The latest news is that members of the USC trojans Dive Club will be in attendance, along with kayaking, scuba diving and pool yoga demonstrations! Grand opening attendees will get a chance to try scuba diving, participate in swimming relay races, sign up for swim lessons, witness diving and other aquatic exhibitions, and enjoy exhilarating trips down the Aquatic Center’s two 20-foot-tall slides. Mouthwatering hamburgers and hotdogs, hot off the grill, chips, and ice-cold drinks will be available for sale at lunchtime. Admission for grand opening attendees on June 25 will only be $1 per person for all ages, a big discount from the everyday admission fees, which range from $4 for Palm Desert adults to $6 for residents of other communities. In order to ensure the safety of younger swimmers, swim testing will be required for all children under 18 who wish to use areas where water depth exceeds six feet as well as for use of the recreational pool’s large slides. Tests will not be required for use of the play and splash pool. For attendee’s convenience, swim tests will be offered throughout the day. The Aquatic Center will close at 9 p.m. |
