Don't be RUDE!

Have you ever had someone say something that stuck with you for years?  Those few words that come back time after time and you never forget them?

I sat in church one Sunday and an elderly pastor shared his sermon with the congregation.  His words, I'll always remember.  It made an impact on my way of thinking, my life.pink flower

This is what he said.

"Rude doesn't make you right."

"Rude never makes you right."

"If you are right and you are rude, you are wrong."

"Rude is wrong."

That was one of my WOW moments.

When someone is rude I think about that day an elderly pastor shared his life lesson with me and his congregation.

How many times has someone been rude to you?  Was it right?

Sherry, If you are right and you are rude, you are wrong.  That really sums it up.  People rarely forget rude. It is a personal affront.

Thanks for this message.

Well when you put it that way I guess you would be right, I never have thought about it then again I would never be rude toward anyone.

I don't understand rude behavior. It's not in my nature to be nasty to someone so I guess that's why I don't understand it. I also won't tolerate rude behavior. Someone once taught me that a great way to deal with rude people is to kill them with kindness. Often times this works.

There is no excuse for rudeness. I love how your preacher put it, "rude is wrong"!

Rose stole my line:  there is no excuse for rudeness.  I guess some people feel that makes them seem important.  Wrong.   It makes them seem so insecure that they have to do something to make themselves FEEL important.  So it's dumb on many levels.

There is no excuse to be rude, but I find that sometimes... most times.. people mean well but are misunderstood.  Maybe something bigger on their mind or a very personal problem.  Sometimes it spills out in other areas. I think we all just need to be a bit more compassionate and know that everyone is going through something and sometimes it's just difficult to turn it off when they have to deal with other people.  Maybe..?

A server in a restaurant was rude to us the other day.  "You'll have to wait a minute!  I am busy!"

Maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know.

The food had not been put on the table, so I threw down a $5 Dollar Bill to cover my iced tea and my wife's coffee, and we got up and walked out.  We will probably never go back there.

Sherry - Choose your words wisely because you can't take them back.  I think your post is right on - Rude is never right, and even if you are right, if you're rude, you're still wrong.  Words to live by.

Rose:  I agree.  There's no excuse for being rude.

It maybe as Susan or Christine pointed out.  The person being rude may have some feelings of insecurity or maybe there's trouble on a personal level.

As Don said, rude is rarely forgottenLaura: It's words I try to live by also.

Thanks for the comments.
