The Northeast heated up.
Unexpectedly, way too early in the season, we found ourselves in the middle of a heat wave. Mid June and the temperature was, uncharacteristically, in the high 90's all week. Some cities even reported temps of low 100's. Without fanfare, the dog days of summer arrived and, simultaneously, a good deal of my energy disappeared.
(Notice my subtle insertion of the word "dog." It's been my experience that the mere mention of the word "dog" or "cat" in any post makes it practically an instant success.)
Once upon a time, for the first comment of each day, we'd see this:
Tentatively, I'd put in the first letter and if the word came up...well, let's just say it was like winning the jackpot.
Sometimes, I'd be forced to cautiously type in the second letter before catching a glimpse of the much desired graphic. Voila! First runner up isn't so bad!
I'll take that consolation prize.
But when it doesn't show at all, I sigh heavily. After all, it is so much work to type in the entire word.
Now, we have a new system in place and it's for the overall good of our blogging platform.
To discourage spamming, commenting has become time-consuming and tedious for those not logged in.
I hope I remain as industrious as ever
but, if by chance, laziness takes hold and you don't see as much of me
then, by way of explanation, I offer you this quote
Deep Summer is When Laziness Finds Respectability
