Smokey's In The Spa

Richard Weisser had a featured post the other day about "pool culture" that I commented on.  Well, it looks like even the black bears in Central Florida are part of the pool culture here as well. Apparently the nice fellow in the picture decided to take a dip in a Seminole County (just North of Orlando) woman's  spa on Monday.  With temperatures in the mid nineties, who could blame him?

Bear sightings are actually very common in that area, as a state park is just to the North.  Many homeowners in the area have been surprised by a rogue bear rummaging through the garbage cans looking for something to dine upon.  Better to get hold of a wisbone than a femur I suppose.

So, in case you were wondering, Central Florida isn't all asphalt and theme parks.  We have our share of wildlife too.  It's just that our wildlife likes to be part of our "pool culture."

Mitch...

Wow, that is an awesome story! I guess I never realized that there were black bears that far South. Now that is indeed what I would call "pool culture!!!"

Richard - Yep, we've got 'em.   They're just not quite as big as those up north.  The least the lady could've done done was bring the guy a beer!

Mitch...I didn't realize there were bears in that area either.  I knew you had "wildlife" but thought it was more in the form of crocodiles & alligators!

Even our bears live the movie star lifestyle.  Come down, visit, leave all of your money in our neck of the woods.  I know that's not the official Orlando motto, but it should be.

Holt crap. I didn't even know you had bears that far south. We still have bears upstate and in nearby Fairfield County, CT a Mountain Lion preciousl thought to be extinct was sighted. Then, it was struck and killed by a car. So I guess it is extinct again.
