By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Home Jane Realty BRE# 01439865

L.A. Freeway

A 10 mile stretch of the Los Angeles I-405, the San Diego Freeway is schedule to be closed for a 53 hour period on the weekend of July 16-17 as part of the improvement project.

I-405 Closures will be as follows:

Northbound I-405 – 10 miles between I-10 and U.S. 101

Southbound I-405 – 4 miles between U.S. 101 and Getty Center Drive.

Motorists traveling during this time are advised to use alternative routes: 5,15,23,55,57,101,118,126,210,605 and 710 freeways.

Ramps in the area will begin shutting down on Friday, July 15th from 7:00 p.m., and the freeways will be closed at 10:00 p.m. This closure will continue through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18th.

If you are thinking of using Sepulveda Blvd. this will only be possible for local residents as it cannot accommodate the huge volume of diverted traffic.

If you are planning on traveling that weekend, plan ahead. Traffic is going to be severe.

Jane - excellent way to let the folks know about the closings.  It is nice to know in advance how to plan an alternate route in order to save time as well as gas.

Jane, it's that time of year for road maintenance. Around here they try to schedule at night to minimize problems. Somebody really has a sharp mind for predicting to able to pinpoint the disruption so accurately. There's be a lot of screaming if it goes into 54 hours.

Well it's a good thing you posted this. Now I have to reroute my trip! Thank you Jane!

All kidding aside, with the volume you guys have on the roads, knowing this information can make all the difference in the world for commute times.

I don't have a good solution....but this seems like a bad time to do this..and I don't see why they can't get it done at night and increments like every other freeway.

Janice,  that's thing.  You won't be using this route :)

Barbara,  I only hope it helps.

Dorie,  oh, I won't be leaving the house that weekend :)

Ed,  I guess there is going to be a lot of screaming.  This is a whole widening the roade exercise.

Craig,  no kidding.  Sorry I disrupted your weekend.  You may want to watch the roads in Raleigh.  It might stretch over to there.

Karen, this one they can't.  The are demolishing the Mulholland Bridge.  I don't think they can take that down piece by piece.

Norma,  yup.  And it is going to all over the streets around me.

Lottie,  don't think so.  If I am not mistaken the 405 goes towards San Francisco :)

GOOD LUCK!!!
