FISH WITHOUT A LICENSE in Tennessee for just this Saturday, and enjoy a lot of special events to encourage families to enjoy fishing.
Among the Johnson City activities is the FAMILY FISHOUT in Winged Deer Park, 8-11 on Saturday. A limited number of rods and reels will be available for those who don't have them, and volunteers will help. "We'll do anything we can do to help kids or adults learn to fish," said Terry Hardin, Johnson City policeman and co-chairman of the program.
In ELIZABETHTON, the KID'S ISLAND FISHING EVENT will be held Saturday 10-1 to give children under 12 a chance to catch up to two fish. Tackle, bait and poles will be available. This is part of the COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL, which you'd enjoy whether or not you fish.
MOUNTAIN CITY'S KIDS' FREE FISHING DAY will be at Ralph Stout Park, 9-4 this Saturday, for kids under 16.
Tennessee allows anyone to fish without a license on June 11, and children 13-15 can fish without a license through June 17. Children under 13 can fish without a license at any time,

When I have time, I'll do a blog about the huge trout some friends of mine have caught. I woudn't have believed it if I hadn't seen the pictures. The TVA website has interesting details about what kind of fish are found in which of the numerous lakes and rivers in this area.
