Well, summer is finally here, and the Tyson’s Corner area is the place to be. Children are out of school, and as parents, we are looking for activities to occupy their time. We want our children to have fun, but we also want to make sure their minds are challenged.
McLean is fortunate to be one of the three sites for TIC Summer Camp. TIC Sumer Camp actually has a curriculum for kids 7–16 that combines technology and sports. The McLean campus is located at the Oakcrest School. Classes start June 27, and are filling up fast.
McLean is also home to Modeling Camp. Modeling Camp has a summer program for girls ages 7-18 in Fashion, Modeling, Etiquette, and Fashion Design. The Modeling Camp summerprograms will be held at the Westpark Hotel. Of course, after a day of modeling camp, the girls will want to stop by the Tyson’s Corner Shopping Center.
Westbriar Elementary in Vienna is home to Camp Invention, a fun-filled adventure fostering creative-thinking skills, science literacy, history and the arts in activity-oriented modules created for children entering grades 1-6. Check out the You Tube Video. Vienna also has a summer dance camp. Born 2 Dance not only teaches a variety of dance classes, they provide other activities such as Arts & Crafts. Children are divided into two appropriate age groups and may attend full or half day camp sessions.
Prospect Sports – Tyson Corner has Soccer Tots. “SoccerTots® understands the nature of kids and has created a curriculum that utilizes their motivation to develop athletic skills and fitness through a series of fun but beneficial games...but don't tell the kids...we're secretly developing them...” This summer program takes children as young as 18 months old. Lil Sluggers is a child development program created to introduce children ages 2-5 to the game of baseball. It’s time to get your little sports enthusiasts registered for these summer programs. Prospects Sports Training offers a summer baseball camp that is open to children ages 7-12. Their baseball camp is actually held at the McLean LittleLeague complex.
