Lake Havasu City officials are excited about the Havasu Trolley service that is set to begin July 1. Many officials have big hopes that this will boost the city’s economy. So, get ready Lake Havasu. Four classic American trolleys will roll out the first day of July along the city’s Purple Route from lower Swanson Avenue and McCulloch Blvd fro 9am to 6pm each weekday and Saturday. Trolleys will pick up each hour Mondays through Thursdays and twice each hour Fridays and Saturdays.
Trolley rides will cost no more than other Havasu Area Transit services and they’re available for Both visitors and local Lake Havasu City residents. Other good news is that the city did not have any initial costs when the trolleys arrived from the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transit Authority. Although they were previously used, they have undergone refurbishment to get them in tip-top shape.
City officials expect the annual maintenance to run around $10,000 to $20,000, which will be offset by ridership if all goes as planned. The trolleys will be a big help to many visitors in maneuvering them around the city a bit easier since most visitors are boating guests who can’t find an easy way to get around to other parts of the city.
The trolley service is expected to be a big boost for Lake Havasu City. It’s also a nice fit for what the city has to offer. However, it remains to be seen how much of a positive effect the trolley service will have on the city and the local economy.
