Some days, it is nice to get out for lunch! I work from home quite a bit and a great break is a walk toward Pike Place Market for lunch with my husband.

Today, we decided to take in some Greek at Sabra. A simple, authentic hideaway tucked behind Market shops.

This family owned lunch stop is simple and offers some of the finest Gyros and stuffed grape leaves I have found.

We love to go during the week when the back patio is all ours and we can relax for a while before heading back toward home!

Judi--I love how you portray Seattle's little know or well known places.  I remember walking through Pike's Market & seeing small shops and restaurants.  LOL

Hi Mary~ Sometimes the little hide away places are the best finds! Everyone knows the big names and what they have to offer. It is fun to find all the local favorites!

So true, Judi.  We have our special little lunch place in Mayport, FL that we try to visit each trip.  It is nothing fancy, but we love its location overlooking the waterfront with the shrimp boats coming and going.  Have a good weekend.

Good evening Judi. Farmer's Market is such a cool place. I spent a few hours there on my last visit to Seattle...

Hi Judi, I went to Pikes Market when I went to Seattle.  I tried to find the place where they throw the fish, but got lost in the back shops like you are describing.  Have a great weekend.

How close do you live?  Do you head down there alot?  Seems when we are close to cool spots, we tend to forget about them!

Hi Michael~ I think it is a mandatory stop for anyone visiting Downtown Seattle!

Maggie~ As much as I love seeing all the folks enjoying the market, I like it best on rainy weekdays, when I don't have to compete with the crowds!

Liz~ The fish throwers are at the main entry to Pike Place Market on Pike and 1st Ave, right under the sign that says PUBLIC MARKET with the clock. A big open space ensures plenty of people can catch the show! You will only miss it because folks are packed twenty deep out onto the sidewalk to see the fish fly on any given weekend!

Hi Chris~ I live two blocks from Pike Place Market. We get all of our fresh produce, meat, eggs, and of course, flowers from the market. Their prices and quality can't be matched by any grocery store!

Plus, I don't need to get in my car to shop when I walk to the market! Grocery stores and gas stations are a rare sight in downtown Seattle!

Judi-Pikes Place Market is a memorable place. Rarely do you see flying fish down here in Texas. Now there are food fights from time-to-time, but that's not really orgainzed like the market. Nice pictures.

Hi Wayne~ Thanks for the smile! I can just see a Texas food fight in San Antonio. It would involve lots of tomatoes!

Have a great weekend Wayne!
