Praise in Public, Criticize in Private

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Maxus Realty Group - Broker 301-246-0001 Broker - Realtor - CEO

A good leader  is one who can use the  right moment to criticize and the right moment to praise.

Does that apply to blogs in Activerain?

I say it does. .

A post takes time and effort and has one purpose. .to enhance the service of its writer for their peers or the public.. .
It just takes one comment from a distracted mind to immediately criticize  something they found in the post that is obviously wrong. .

Why ruin it for them?
When a private message via email could do the job. .
By you pointing out the mistake in a comment tells me a lot about you. .
specially that you are not a good leader and certainly not ambassador material

The sign of a good leader is exactly this:

Praise in Public, Criticize in Private. . .by Servitude!

"How to make friends and influence people." It is a classic book. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"  is its major theme. There is a way to tell someone there fly is down--LOL

Well said Fernando. If everyone would simply realize that we are all in this business together and try to play together like good girls and boys it would make life so much easier. Nitpicking and trying to make "me" look smarter than "you" is self centered and uncalled for.

GREAT post Fernando. I have one commenter of late who always puts in a negative. Not sure why, and they also misread the post and THEN make their off-topic comment. Just don't get it. And when the comment enriches the post -- ICING on the cake!!

Hi Fernando, Simple and to the point, but does need repeating. Just about everything is a matter of opinion anyway. There's no need to rain on sumebody else's parade for the sake of being more right, or getting noticed. That often has the opposite effect. Thanks for the reminder.

Fernando ~  Shucks, late to the party -- congratulations on the well-deserved Feature.  I certainly couldn't agree with you more -- no reason for anyone to be snarky and negative.  It's certainly okay to disagree in a positive and respectful manner; otherwise, use a private email -- better yet, unless it's constructive, keep it to yourself!  Great post.

Fernando - While I agree that there is no reason to humiliate people on their own blogs, I disagree about not pointing out misinformation. As a couple of others have stated, putting misinformation out there for consumers to come across is just reckless and irresponsible. Personally, I have no problem with people disagreeing with me on my own blog especially when they can add to the discussion by correcting me about misinformation I may have put out. For example, I read so much misinformation that Realtors/agents blog about the loan process. Professionally, I consider it my duty to not only the mortgage industry and fellow MLO's to address any misinformation but it's also my responsibility that any consumers understand the facts about the loan process by an experienced and knowledgeable MLO and not the misinformation from someone who is not familiar with so much of the new processess and/or requirements of the mortgage industry as well as the loan process. I try only to make positive comments.  If I have a concern about the facts of a post, I am email the person.  Usually, I don't because I know some else will.
