The young Alternative band The Fairgrounds had their first real concert this past weekend at Moes Barbecue, a favorite bbq restaurant in old Englewood that hosts local bands on Saturday nights through out the summer. The Fairgrounds, a local High School band, has performed a half dozen concerts over the past 6 months including a nice charity fundraiser for an orphanage in Ghana, they raised over $1000 for that event which was the first time they ever performed in front of an audience.
Last night, the band was challenged to sell out the venue, which they politely did, not only did they sell out, but they had the biggest following of fans of the four participating bands, many of whom are twice as old as these young rockers. Actually one of the headliners, Calling Out West has a very strong loyal following as well, the bands play very similar music, and its no wonder, two of Calling Out West members are the older brother of the lead singer for The Fairgrounds.
Although very much in their infancy, these young artists are right at home on the stage and are growing and improving every concert. It is fun to see that they already have a group that knows there music and yells out requests between songs.
Can you tell Im a proud papa.
