EASY FIXES FOR YOUR HOUSE – CAN ANYONE DO IT?
OIL STAINS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR – The oldest trick in the book….cat litter! Use the cat litter to soak up any excess oil. Remove the cat litter and now you can focus on the stain itself. Combine hot water with either dishwashing or laundry detergent, making it a paste. Spread the paste with a stiff bristle brush and scrub the area, hose off and see how much of the spot you removed. Another method that can be used is using a “spray-n-wash” type product, wait about 10 minutes, mix with dry detergent, scrub and rinse.
LEAKY FAUCETS – In most cases only a rubber washer, o-ring or seal is needed to cure those pesty drips off the faucet. However; if this does not fix the problem, you can contact your local and trusted plumber to assist you. Plumbing can be tricky, not all plumbing jobs are an easy fix. Age of the home and fixtures will play a large part on whether you can fix it yourself.
NAIL POPS ON DRYWALL - These nail heads come through when the house has settled or the wood is drying out putting pressure on the nail and squeezing it out. You can hammer them back in but to ensure your drywall is secured to the wood, place another nail just above that nail and hammer in. You can purchase a nail-pop kit at your local home improvement stores as well. Once your nails are all hammered in and secured, you can use some spackle to cover the area, seal and finally place a coat of paint. Your walls or ceilings will look good as new.
