Thanks, Emily - so many people think the hibiscus won't do well here in hot, dry Arizona, but they do great with just a little extra help.
LOL, I just had a phone call from a jealous AR'er who said her hibiscus hasn't done well. I asked her if she used fertilizer as most plants which bloom need it. She said no. So, you MUST fertlize the hibiscus, Carol, LOL.
Juli ~ it's a great time of year when all the flowers start bblooming! Very pretty!
Thanks, Dawn. I just love being able to grow hibiscus - I think they're one of the most beautiful flowers and I love that they thrive in Arizona.
We have auto waterers out here in AZ, Joni. But, during heat spells, like today - 109 - I'll give them a drink at the end of the day as well, after the sun goes down. Hey, I like one at the end of the day - I gotta believe my plants like it, as well. Of course, they only get water. Well, maybe water "spiked" with Miracle Gro®, LOL.
Juli who is the auto water-er? You or your husband? Just kidding. A great photo, I love green & purple the go so well together.
No, we have a drip system here in Arizona. But, I do give these guys a little more when we get above 100, like today. The majority of my plants are xeriscape, little or no water. I couldn't resiste "splurging" on these beauties.
Beautiful hibiscus, Juli! Is that in your yard...? We have a double red (I wish I could find more of those!), orange and a pink one in our back yard in pots. Love them!
Yes, I have this one and an orangish one. Have you check out Desert Winds on Tatum, Sharon? They have a GREAT selection of hibiscus. I had a double red at my last house in Tatum Ranch and saw it just last week - it's HUGE!!!
Juli I love the hibiscus plant. Oh this just reminded me I to make up that drink from dried hibiscus.
Thanks for sharing your flowers. Have an outstanding day.
Blooming for you!
Juli, I would not have known what it was unless I read the comments. My ability to name most plants, trees and flowers is limited to: (1) Tree (2) Bush (3) Flower and (4) I don’t know what kind of plant that is … it’s a green one!
Jennifer - a drink? I've never heard of that.
Roy, I knew you'd like it.
Thanks, Joshua.
Kathleen, that's why there are books and the internet - so you can look things up, LOL.
