My First Lockout Eviction and I did not like it!

Well I was told to wear jeans and tennies to my first lockout eviction on a bank owned property in Fresno, CA, but I decided to wear sandles instead.  I met the sherrif's there this morning and the tenants were still in the process of moving their belongings.  There were two tenants on the lease when we did the occupancy check in Nov 2010.  The tenants wanted to accept the cash for keys offer but they had a friend move in and she moved in about 7 other people who squatted on the property and they refused to leave.  They were living in tents in the backyard, in the garage, in the yard, everywhere.  There was debris piled high in the yard and in the house.  No power or water.  I walked through the house in my jeans and cute sandles and was afraid of what I would step on.  I think the trash out will cost the seller more than what the property will sell for fair market value.  This bank owned business has alot of components to it.  I am not sure that I have the heart for this side of the business.  I really felt for the two tenants and their dog who are now displaced, even though they have had 7 months of knowing they house was foreclosed.  Well, we will see what the next one brings.

Sad.  Unfortunately, some people hope that they wake up from the nightmare, and it all is OK.  7 months is not a long time when it comes to the speed at which some banks move but It sure seems like they had their hands full.  Too bad.

I hope you survived it and learned .. that's all we can take from this.

Perhaps scubba diving gear would have been a safer option.  With army boots, you never know if there are snakes, rats, mice, or any other rodents in a disaster like that!

Been there, done that, threw away the t-shirt (ok, not really!).  Some of these places are so bad that it makes you want to throw away your clothes.  If they had a dog, you're lucky you didn't end up with fleas on your feet & legs.  That is never a nice surprise.  Sometimes, after the fleas have been alone in the house, they'll bite anything they can find - so if there's fleas, they might not have been hungry today, in a couple of weeks, they will be.

@Karen, might be a wise to make the investment if I continue to do these, lol.  @Tracie, I forgot to mention, I rushed home, threw my clothes in the wash and took another shower and scrubbed my feet raw.  HaHa

If that picture is the actual property you are listing, all I can say is "wow".
