State Regulators in Maine have warned about a current loan scam that has surfaced.
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from
North Lake Equity Group, please contact the
Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection
at 800-332-8529.
This company has been offering loans by telephone and over the internet to Maine residents. They sound quite convincing and professional and claim that their office is located on Sanford Road in Wells. The caller usually identifies himself as William Gibson and seems to be aware of the targeted consumers' financial information.
This is an entirely fake operation. The caller claims to offer personal loans and requires several advanced payments from the customer. Please do not divelge any additional information and if you do get a call from this group, be sure to report it by calling the number above.
