We are in the people business

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams LIfestyles Realty

We may sell real estate, and it may be our product, but I believe that people is our business. We do not sell a home for, or to, everyone we come across and meet with. This business is about building lasting relationships, and to do that, you have to be honest. You have to do what's in the best interest of your client, not yourself. Am I right?

I enjoy seeing the look on someone's face when a deal comes together, be it the buyer or the seller. It feels great to know that I have helped them with the single largest investment they are likely to ever make in their lives. But, there are times when the people we are meeting with are just not in a position to buy or sell a home. I don't enjoy seeing the look on their face as I suggest they wait for whatever reasons, but, I don't stop there.

After a consultation, and finding out that my clients are not in a position to buy or sell, for whatever reason, my work is not done. After all, this is about people, and what's best for them. That's when I get to work for them, getting them started in the right direction so that they can soon realize their dreams of buying or selling a home. I'll set them up with a banker to help get finances in order, as that is usually the case. We may even meet with a credit professional, and I give numbers for credit reports. I'll even leave behind some great books for them to read to help lead them in the right direction. And, I make sure to stay in contact with these people until they are in a better position to buy or sell. I do whatever I can to help my clients get closer to realizing their dreams.

I believe that when most Realtors find out the people they are with are not in a position to buy or sell, they end the relationship. The look on someone's face when I stick around and offer a ton of useful, valuable advice and information to help them is absolutely priceless. It reminds me of why I got into this business in the first place, and I know there are people out there that need my help. These people usually become one of my best sources for referral business. A little help can go a long way.
