"Word-of-mouth" is the best promotion for you as an agent . . . and in today's world, word-of-mouth happens more frequently on Facebook than on the street. They key is to attract people to your Facebook page and encourage them to "Like" your page. Now, the information you post ends up on their Facebook "wall". Next, each of their Facebook friends check out the wall, sees your information, and knows that you are "Liked". This carries all the weight of a recommendation and chances are the friend will click on your page. Now, back to step one . . . they "Like" your page and the cycle repeats!
So, how do you encourage visitors to your Facebook page to click on the "Like" button? Of course, step number one is to be "likeable". In other words, your content must be worthwhile and you must update your page frequently. Worthwhile content includes local events, local attractions, market news, book reviews, interesting tidbits of local history, etc.
Other tips to attract "Likes"
- Share information frequently - daily is good. Your fans won't want to miss anything and will "Like" your page to receive your updates directly to their page.
- Offer something in exchange for "Liking" your page - for example a subscription to your newsletter, a free download of an e-book, a coupon to print, etc.
- Offer a prize raffle and each "Like" is entered into the contest (there are some rules about running a contest on Facebook so be sure and check the Facebook "Statement" before posting).
- Add Facebook Plugins to your website that allow website visitors to link your webpage back to their Facebook profile, and also to view your Facebook stream and "Like" your Facebook page directly from your website.
- Add your Facebook link to your email signature, your blogs, and e-newsletters.
- Add your Facebook URL to your business cards (Facebook.com/username)
- Encourage friends to "Like" your Facebook page and return the favor.
Facebook is a "no-brainer" for promoting your business and actively staying connected with clients and potential clients. If your hesitation is the time needed to set up your page and keep it current with postings, photos, and comments; a perfect solution is to have all of this done by a virtual assistant.
