What time do you work until?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams First Coast Realty

I wonder if I have an addiction problem that I need to take care of.  I'm so work addicted, I don't know quite how to let go of my day.

When I'm not showing homes, getting my customers to the mortgage broker, doing open houses, creating new newsletters, calling customers, helping customers get homes ready for pictures, staging homes, taking pictures, updating my database, knocking on doors, handing out business cards, looking up new ideas, placing signs in the yard, etc etc etc. I don't know when my work day ends.

I can be on the computer for hours doing real estate related stuff, yet somehow, I still don't know where the time goes in the day or if I'm ever done.

What time do you get off of work or are you in the same boat? I'd love to hear from y'all!

Oh, I can so feel your pain. I'm here and it's not by accident. I just got home from taking my wife out for date night and now I'm back on the laptop catching up on some work. My work day never really ends, so if you have a sickness, SO DO I!  :)

For me, it's cyclical. Sometimes I'm enjoying working and I don't want to stop. Or I just have a lot to do and it has to get done. And other times I'm enjoying goofing off and I don't have anything pressing, so I stop early. I just go with the flow =)

My workday only ends the one week I go on a cruise with Melissa. It is the only time the cell phone doesn't work and I have limited access to my email. It forces me to relax. Otherwise I'm working 24/7.

Time?  What's that?  If I wanted a regular schedule I would get a regular job.  There is no routine for me.  Having a home office I might spend an hour or two in the morning at the desk - then go vacumn the living room.

24/7 that my corporate name and I only sllep about 5 hours a night.  I do slack off during the Hudson River Spring Striper Run.  I'm a fishing fool.

same here... its a tough market which drives me to work HARD/Long hours to stay in the game. WHen the market recovers we will be standing talll I believe. This will all pay off. Hopefully we can take at least 1 day off a week when things get better.

I am in the same boat!  I work and work, but oftentimes wonder if I really accomplished anything!  The internet and technology is great, but sometimes I wonder if it's worth all the time spent!

I just about anytime that I am needed, but take Sundays off. People seem to respect my Sundays. I have been at the office as late as 10 a few times lately.

You need balance in your life. Plus you will find more business when you get out of the office and follow your other passions. That is when you make the most connections with new business. For the most part I do not work on Sundays and my clients know that I probably won't answer the phone after 8pm. I try not to be in the office after 8pm. I get up early 4:30-5am and do the personal things that are important including spiritual time, exercise time and home chore time. I love what I do and can easily get sucked into marketing, lead generation, etc. Of course, I am writing this from the offfice on a Saturday afternoon! LOL

I share the same passion. I dont even feel that this is "work". I can "real estate" just about all my waking hours. That being said, my husband does not share the same philosophy. He has a time to work and a time to play. He keeps me balanced because I break myself from work when it is time to relax at home.

Be careful about getting burnt out too.

Alas my dear ... you are not alone! I've always been like that. Even in other careers. No matter how much I get done, I always seem to have a lot still to do. I think it's a trait of over-achievers. However, I try to stick to a 5 day schedule. On occasion I would work on Saturday, but I always take Sundays off. Shhh ... don't tell anyone.

It's amazing how much time real estate takes from us.  I guess I'm crazy but I love it most of the time.  There are days that I wonder why????  You are not alone!
