I broke two teeth and I don’t advise you try it!

If you have ever broken a tooth or even had tooth pain, you know that it never happens when it is convenient. Well, when I broke two molars, it was no exception! It was 7pm on Thursday night when I bit in to a Peanut Butter Cookie and a peanut decided to use itself as a wedge to divide my two molars and broke them both.

Dentist Chair

This was one very painful experience, and I was now in search of a way to alleviate my pain. I could not find a dentist that was open at 7pm and I was starting to get close to passing out from the pain. That is when I got of hold of one dentist that knew of another that offered service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I was willing to pay any amount to have my pain go away.

Dr. Thomas Pham of Emergency Tooth Doctors was my savior. He not only was at his office in less than an hour, he didn't charge anything above and beyond what my other dentist did. So I've now switched dentists and I alsoknow that if I'm ever in pain in the middle of the night again, I can count on him saving me! (Not that I'm planning on that.)

I'm happy to say he saved both my teeth and I am now pain free, but I'm not going to be eating another crunchy peanut butter cookie anytime soon, if ever!

Hi Todd. Sounds very painful. I think I'll stay away from the crunchy peanut butter cookies also. Best of luck.

EEEwwwww....

That hurt to think about....the passing out part made me think of how much of a wuss we are as men, until I remembered the last toothache I had, and lo and behold, the compassion kicked in.....

get well!

Todd - That sounds horribly painful.  Glad you were able to find a 24-hour dentist to help.  It makes me want to avoid peanuts altogether.

Sorry about your tooth pain, Todd.
I've never heard of any 24 hour emergency dentist.
I'll have to check to see if there's on in my area.

Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better.

OWIIEEEE ZOWIIEEEEE and a few other choice words !!  Did it expose the nerve?  Yes indeedy, a good toothache or a good earache will make 'mice' out of all of us.  But even a mouse can chew his leg off!!  It is a lot easier to be John Wayne when shock and adrenalin are kickin' in.  Without those two things going for ya, pain just sucks.  GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE DOIN' FINE.

I chipped off a molar 3 years ago eating Pistachio ice cream.  Damn nuts!!  It was strictly topical, no exposed nerves.  I finished my ice cream.  But I had several large fillings in that tooth for many years and it was just 'time for it to break'.  Truely, it was not that the nuts were that hard but the nut just got in there at an angle that allowed it to put a little pressure in the right direction and the corner of the molar came right off.  And of course, I swallowed it.

Peanut Butter Cookies?  Couldn't you use the peanut butter to stick your teeth back together?  :-)

Picture of the Dentist Chair.  Good God man, give it a break.  "Doctor, Doctor, I am dying, WAIT A SECOND, I got to get a picture of the chair for my blog"  I just had a real funny thought, WHEN DO YOU NOT THINK ABOUT BLOGGING?   Don't answer that, take the 5th !! >>> " . . . nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, . . . OUCH!  It is certainly good to know that there are 24 hours dentists.  I don't think I would have expected that.  I hope you are feeling better!

Man, I broke a molar at dinner a year ago.  That bugger freaked me out!  I heard the distinct "Crack" inside my mouth and the pain was wild.  I wasn't eating anything hard at the time - it was just ready to go.

Vincent - No crunchy peanut butter allowed in the house anymore!

Bill - I certainly didn't drive myself that night!

Nancy - Either had I, until Dr. Pham. But, I can't say enough good things about the guy!

Jason - My baker has been married to me way too long to get rid of her. - lol

Dwight - Yes it did expose the nerves in both teeth! It was the most pain I have ever been in and yes while I was in the chair, I was cracking jokes with the dentist about writing a blog about this and did it while during the surgery on my phone which has Microsoft Word on it.

Nathan - Don't tell Dr. Pham, but you were right at that time I would have paid anything!

Linda - My wife says you used drugs then - lol

Charles - And I never want to do it again!

Diane - I just got lucky finding him. It was a referral and I would have been in pain all night had I not caught the other dentist doing paperwork.

Jeff - It was the worst sound I also had heard. You knew what happened when it happened.

Ryan - YOU ARE WRONG - Have to test it for the kids' safety - lol

Jennifer - thanks!

Robert - Not looking forward to going back to finish the job. But, you have to do what you have to do.

I was playing paddle ball many years ago in NY and my partner let go of his paddle which had a metal banding around the edge.

Although it felt like just a tap, it knocked out two teeth.

I feel your pain!
