Have You Seen Clouds Like These?

Last night my Chris and I went out to buy lottery tickets, our twice weekly contribution to our retirement fund Ha ha. When we were backing out of the local Irving station, Chris noticed some beautiful color in the clouds to our East, and suggested we go a little North, to a grass landing strip on Post Road and see what the sunset might look like up there.

When we got up by the golf course, it became apparent that we needed to get out and take some pictures. There was a cloud bank towards the West. The sun was below the top of the cloud bank, and the exact meteorological or astronomical cause of this phenomena, I do not know, but the edge of the cloud bank was defined by a very fine line of bright orange. Beautiful and out of the ordinary, we felt so very fortunate to witness this AND have a camera.

Hello john, We have not seen clouds like those in nearly a year. If you don't need them you could send them our way. No Rain for over eight months. Even Texas is in a "drought". We are into the "Monsoon season" for over three weeks now and still no rain.

Nice shots, I know what you mean about the retirement fund. LOL

I have been contributing to it for years. LOL

Doug - I certainly know about the sunsets in California. They are sooo beautiful!

Hi John - You are welcome! A special sunset is a real treat.

Tim - This was so unique. The camera could not capture the exact color, but I'm thankful we were there for the show.

Breathtaking pictures, John. It is so important to acyc (always carry your camera); you never know what you might see and absolutely need to photograph. BTW, we have the same retirement plan here in Florida :)

Clint - I'll FedEx a few your way. I know ts been pretty dry down there!

Andrea - I have also made it a habit to keep a camera in my car. Always hope the batteries are charged ;)

Richard - "Being at the right place at the right time." When it comes right down to it, nothing beats dumb luck.

Hi Toni - Always a good plan to keep your camera handy! Just like the lottery, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" ~ Wayne Gretzky

Kathleen - There was bit of a light show and a little noise, but it did not rain. We've had our share already this year.

Hi Joan - Sunsets and clouds are like fingerprints - there are no two alike!

Hi John~ Beautiful shots of clouds at sunset!

Hey, maybe it was a sign that you picked winning numbers on your lotto tickets! Now wouldn't that explain those golden hues?

Best regards,

Hi Judi - I like your optimistic approach, but as it turned out, it was not a sign. Oh well, the next drawing will be bigger. That's optimism.

Hey Chris - Thanks for stopping by. I guess in the end, you were probably right - get in before it rains, but we didn't get it. Mother Nature just wanted to share some art before retiring for the night!

Hi Sharon - The image of these clouds was so striking, I was amazed others driving North on Post Road did not stop and stare. These shots were taken right over Rt 95. There was also a deer grazing peacefully along the side of the road, but those shots did not come out. That was a perfect ending of a perfect day for my Chris and me.
