Rows And Rows Of Just Houses, No People, No Events Or Local Flavor ... Something's Missing.

Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

What is your local real estate market all about...just a bunch of property listings and pretty much like any other GPS coordinate on the planet? NOOOooo.

The area you list, market, sell real estate is so much more than the sticks and bricks, the properties you carefully put on line for the world to see. Where the property is means their is a local community flavor. Ever had someone from far away who has never been to your home town ask you "what is your area like?" Real estate is fixed, does not move and where it is usually comes first in a real estate buyer's mind than what it is.

So as a local real estate agent, broker, REALTOR to answer the question what is your area like, you should be involved in those local community events. So you can relay everything about the area, to experience all that is unique and special about where you live, work and play.

One local event that is family based, competitive and shows how many folks come our to support a youth event, is the Maine soap box derby program.

This past weekend, a little water did not dampen the spirits of the Maine boys and girls who climbed in and out of derby race cars to learn the thrill of the hill.

Watch a local derby race and see if this does not give you an idea of what the Northern Maine area is all about.

If you were a family relocating to Houlton Maine, you would wonder about how are my kids going to do?

What is there to keep them from being bored and what goes on there for family events that we can all participate in?

This Northern Maine Soap Box Derby program is one such event. There are many more. Watch the race results of the 2011 Maine State Soap Box Derby running on Derby Hill in Houlton Maine.

Maine, kids, families are everything, the outdoor four season setting is a place for serious fun and enjoyment too.

I like being topside and loading the kids in the gates, getting their cars off the trailer as they hop out of the tow car and race to grab their cars, get them to the launch. Over and over I will be down beside one kid low in the car and when he hears the launch operators walkie talkie tell him we have a green for this heat to let them go, you see a big wide grin appear on their face as they stare down the track, down the hill. And focus on the finish line. That is cool and no words said, just the instant grin and you know this kid has the"thrill of the hill" in his system. Will make sure to put on a soap box derby race for his or her community years from now, for his kids to race and know what he enjoyed. I love small towns where there is nothing stronger than the hearts of the volunteers.

At first I thought you were going to rant about some members blogs only consisting of listing posts! This is a great localism posts, I wish the AR GODs would create a reserve spot on the featured list for a localism post. To often great posts like this get overlooked because they don't necessarily appeal to the masses.
