Home Staging? Kick it to the curb!

By
Home Stager with Designer's Eye LLC

That's right!  If you are staging your home, you have to kick that outdated brick, overgrown landscaping and ugly front door to the curb!  Staging your home on the outside is just as important as staging your home on the inside.  Buyers are looking online now more than ever and if you can't draw them in with your pictures, what will you use?  The outside of the home has to convey the message of the rest of the home.  If the outside is outdated and dingy, buyers assume that's what the inside will be like.  Be sure to give as much attention to curb appeal as you would each room.

The following picture is a great example of how Home Staging can completely transform a house without a renovation or thousands of dollars.  This house got a fresh coat of paint to the exterior and front door, new hardware, mailbox and numbers.  Some simple landscaping and mulch adds color and interest to the exterior for only a few hundred dollars.  The house is now updated, colorful and move in ready.  It also peaks interest in home buyers that see it online.

Melissa--the before photos says "stay away" and the after photo says "come right in".  In my experience, many sellers think that staging starts inside their front door, and I remind them they need to get the buyer there from the curb.  Nice post.
