One of My favorite things about this summer so far is the Fresh Local Foods we have chosen from various Local Farmers Markets in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Milton, DELAWARE. We have enjoyed several lettuces, rainbow chard, zucchini, squash, cantaloupe, basil, oregano, white cheddar, mozzarella, goat and feta cheeses. YUM ! What a Treat !
There is so much to LOVE about Summer in Southern Delaware. The Warmth of Sunshine, my toes nestled in the COOL Sand, breaking of the OCEAN Waves onto to the Sandy BEACHES and the Smell of the Salt Air mixed with Thrashers Fries, Grotto Pizza and Dolle's Popcorn. I have heard from others who are not as fortunate to live in the REHOBOTH BEACH area that Grotto Pizza does not taste as Awesome without the mix of Salt Air. I can imagine that is True !
I do find the smell of fries, pizza and popcorn attractive to my senses but it doesn't seem to form a healthy and fit body as the food we experience from Local Farmers.
Most recently at the Lewes Farmers Market we had freshly made blueberry yogurt and lemon ice to cool us during a presentation of fresh mozzarella balls being made !! Again- I repeat YUM !!!
The food is an experience we take away and enjoy all week long. However another treat is meeting the local farmers and hearing their stories. I especially envy the beekeeper's- Dave & Rosemary Baues of Baues' Busy Bees, who sell all natural honey products. I purchased the fantastic honey hand cream! I think my fear would get the best of me if I were to try keeping bees but I Love the product! BUZZZZZZZ.... Yikes !
I Plan to Continue my Visits to the Local Farmers Markets, Find Many More Reasons to Appreciate Summer, and All it Has to Offer to My Senses !
