Book Review- Surviving Your Serengeti- 7 Skills to Master Business and Life by Stefan Swanepoel-I realize that this book has a special place with many inf the Activerain community because of Stefans background in the industry, and I know that it has been reviewed here before as well. I just finished reading it for the second time in as many weeks, so I felt obligated to give my review.

The first time I read the book I was entranced by the description of The Serengeti, so much so that it is now on my bucket list The descriptives were unbelievable and I almost felt as if I made the trip myself, but as a book that I wanted to put on my must have list I felt it was not quite there. This really is two books in one and I felt that the end of each chapter was more of a distraction and took me from the story. I really wnated to hear more about the Serengeti. Then I went to the online quiz at www.whatanimalami.com to see if I was correct in thinking I was a crocodile, the results were that I was the Graceful Giraffe, not even close to what I had thought, so I re-read the book and this time I took extra care to pay attention to the different animals and what they really represent, as I read through the characteristics of the Graceful Giraffe it became very obvious to me that this is exactly who I am and I could not be happier. The characteristics nailed me to a tee.

I encourage all of you to read the book, then try to figure out what animal you are, take the quiz and then re-read with the animal in mind and find out which animal you really are-

  • The enduring Wildebeest
  • The Strategic Lion
  • The Enterprising Crocodile
  • The Efficient Cheetah
  • The Graceful Giraffe
  • The Risk-Taking Mongoose
  • The Communicating Elephant

The book is now on my must have list, maybe I have been fortunate, it seems like all of the books that I read are getting either $$$$ or $$$$$ ratings, of course I usually read the books recommended by the authors so that helps clear out many of the so - so books. I am giving Surviving Your Serengeti a $$$$$ rating, it was twice as good the second time and much more meaningful, and now that I know what animal I am I realize I am on the right course.

I rate books with a $-$$$$$ rating based on how valuable the book is to my business and how valuable I feel it is to the audience.

  • $$$$$ means that the book is a must have for any library and a good book to refer to anytime you need sound advice
  • $$$$- means that the book is very good and worth reading
  • $$$- means there may be a few nuggets of information, and if you can't find something else to do go ahead and read this book
  • $$- do not waste your time

I am definitely planning on making a trip to the Serengeti

  • $- I am sorry I wasted my time and be thankful you saw this book report before wasting yours
