First Day of Summer -- Zoe style!
This is actually the second week of Summer vacation for my granddaughter, Zoe. But she spent all last week home in bed with strep throat and bi-lateral ear infections. Not a very auspicious beginning to the carefree days of Summer.
To Zoe's credit she took the time at home to begin 2 Summer Reading Programs. One at our local library and another at Barnes & Noble. The Summer Reading Club sponsored by New Hanover County Public Library came with a bag of goodies; coupons for ice cream, fudge, paddle boat ride, free kids meal at Moes -- lots of good stuff. She also gets to write reviews for the Library website -- I think we may have a writer on our hands!
But it's the one at Barnes & Noble she's really excited about. Once she's read 8 books she gets to choose 1 FREE book and she has the chance to win a color Nook! She's already completed 2 books and started her 3rd today.
So when I took her to the pool this afternoon, I was thrilled when she reminded me to bring her book. I was even more thrilled when she decided to take a break and read a little. I think Zoe's Summer is looking pretty darn good!
