RAVE ON: A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF BUDDY HOLLY

Where/When: Cowan Park from 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday.
Why Go: Bring the entire family for an evening of musical entertainment in a beautiful outdoor setting. This Wednesday begins the Radnor Summer Concert Series, featuring a free family-friendly concert every Wednesday this summer through August 3.

NOVEL DESTINATIONS: SHORT STORY TO BIG SCREEN SERIES 

Where/When: Tredyffrin Public Library from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Why Go: Take a cue from the kids and start your own summer reading program. To get you started, Tredyffrin Public Library will show four feature films that have been adapted from short stories. Read the original story and then come to the library for a viewing of the film and an informal discussion facilitated by local film buffs Kate Currigan and Lori O'Connor. Explore the similarities and differences and see how well each story translates to the big screen. This week features "Rear Window" by Cornell Woolrich, which was adapted for the movie of the same name, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

COOL SCIENCE WITH WONDERGY

Where/When: Newtown Public Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Why Go: Feed your curiosity about how things work as Wondergy employs a mix of science, education, theatrics, art, and music to present an innovative and exciting educational program. Plus, rumor has it that liquid nitrogen is involved. 
Pricing: Free, no registration required.


ERIC BARBUSCIA, JOSH KOMOROWSKI AND JOHN GALLA

Where/When: Newtown Square coffeehouse Burlap and Bean at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go: Experience for yourself the transformation of this cozy cafe into an intimate listening room as Burlap and Bean welcomes a special triple feature of three exceptional singer-songwriters. Listen to samples of Eric Barbuscia, Josh Komorowski and John Galla and then come see them live on Saturday. Customers over 21 may bring their own beer or wine to the performance, per Burlap and Bean's BYO policy.

MAGICAL FRIENDS TEA PARTY

Where/When: Tyler Arboretum at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Enjoy a magical scavenger hunt among the trees and flowers of the arboretum. Create an enchanted halo and a magical craft to take home. Then conclude with an elegant and delicious fairy tea with cookies while learning how etiquette rules vary among wizards, gnomes, goblins, and fairies. After the party, you may want to go to the fairy house and gnome home building area to create your own special dwelling for the many magical beings that live at the Arboretum. Fairy, elf, gnome, goblin or wizard attire is encouraged, but not required.
Pricing: $8 fee for members, $10 fee for non-members, pre-registration required. 


JIMMY AND THE PARROTS

Where/When: Rose Tree Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Why Go: Kick back, relax and be transported to that island state of mind as you take in popular Jimmy Buffet cover band Jimmy and the Parrots. Bring blankets and beach chairs for another performance of the Delaware County Summer Festival. Snacks are available at all concerts or feel free to bring your own.

MANAYUNK ARTS FESTIVAL 

Where/When: Main Street in Manayunk from Carson Lane to Shurs Lane; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Check out one of the region's largest annual outdoor arts festivals. More than 275 arts and crafts vendors from 22 states will be offering original art, handmade jewelry and one-of-a-kind housewares. Plus, stop into one of the more than 30 restaurants and eateries in Manayunk, most of which are offering specials in connection with the festival.
