Pace Bend Park in Spicewood TX is a great place to spend those triple digit degree days!! Pace Bend Park is off the Pedernales River that is a branch off from Lake Travis. The water is pretty low right now, but that just meant we had to be careful about some of the old tree stumps sticking up on the beach. This is a park where many people bring their trailers and RV's and camp over night. Some people just bring tents, but there is 1000s of acres of land for camping and such. We have a Travis County annual pass, but we also found out that everyone over 62 gets in free! That's a plus, considering they charge per car and not per person.
We built sandcastles and collected seashells and rode the waves in on a tube.
The most interesting thing about the shape of the Pedernales River and Lake Austin is that where we were playing, right across the water from us was my new listing in Lago Visita. Why is that interesting? Because it takes 45 minutes for me to drive to Lago Vista, yet it takes 15 minutes to get to Pace Bend Park. There is no bridge going over the water so the only option is to drive all the way around Austin to get there.
Pace Bend Park is a fun, convenient place to go to try to beat the heat. Because of the water and the wind, it definitely didn't feel like 106 degrees that day!
