Wordless Wednesdays...Pass The Stuffing And Gravy

Alright, I really was just kidding, but I am trying to find some humor in this precipitation that has come back around after four consecutive days of good weather. Almost began to seem like a normal Spring/Summer for a bit. Now that the rain is back, I guess I'm feeling like these guys.

This photo seems to need a caption. If you have one, please leave it in the comment section!

We finally got rain today. An eight month drought. I think the worst since 1893, Send us some of yours - we are down about 20 inches for the year.

Hi Joan - We have had a bit of the flower thing, but this much rain this year has done some damage to our plantings. We have lost 3 or 4 Iris clumps and a rose bush to rot. The Iris is a great story. In another life, I had a restaurant and I had a regular customer for a long time. She came in day carrying a potted Iris and told me she had just bought this prize-winning Iris at a flower show. She wanted to know if she could leave it with me while she ran an errand. My reply was, of course. She never returned again. After a couple of weeks, we planted it and have divided it many times over the years. These are the ones we have lost to rot. Who knows, they may come back.

Oh Joni - I have been watching your weather for a while now and have hoped for a little rain miracle for you. This morning I saw some t-showers in your forecast. Sure hope that brought a smiggen of relief!

Cheryl - Same as with Joni. I have been trying to send some of our rain down to you to end your horrible drought. One thing I'm sure of - you Texans are tough enough to hang in there long enough to beat this cycle.

That is too funny, I love how they are propped on the fence, almost as if you "staged them"!

Rene - I'm a little surprised that rickety old fence was still standing! We see turkeys frequently, but generally not in these numbers. They are always entertaining! Have a great Thursday.

John, what I want to know is ... how long did it take you to train them? They aren't the brightest creatures... LOL. I LOVE that photo!

Rain again... I too lost some plants to rot.

Andrea - I have photos of turkeys on my neighbor's roof too! Although turkeys are "roosting" birds, I rarely see them anywhere but on the ground. I have a closeup photo of just the two "love birds" on the right in the above photo, but not on this laptop. Hope your Thursday is awesome!

Hi John~ You will never hear this former Arizona resident complain about the rain in Seattle! Your Iris story is wonderful and the continued years of iris blooms are the happy ending of the story!

On your photo, how about: "Cold Turkey has got me on the run"

Showing my age!...

Hi Judi - I lived for just a short period of time in Albuquerque - too dry and too far from the ocean for me. These are Iris I'm hoping survive this rainy Spring & Summer. I have lost 3 clumps out of 6 as of now and we are rapidly losing a bed of Iris that came from my folks house. That stock is around 60 years old. "Cold Turkey has got me on the run" is quite appealing because I'm sure those guys were exactly that - cold. :)

Send some of the rain down here, John. We are in a drought although we are supposed to get rain tomorrow (of course, since I have a huge SPCA event scheduled outside). Nice picture of the turkeys.

Hi Toni - Seems like all you have to hear is "rain or shine" and it rains. We had a memorial walk last night for one of our broker managers who passed away one year ago. Rained all day yesterday. I know it has been hot, for sure down your way. Hope the SPCA event is spared a bit.

I'm tired of the rain too, John.  This gloomy weather sucks the life from me.  I need some sun!  Awesome pic!  I've had wild turkey high up in my trees but never lined up on a fence like that!

Hi Sharon - Me too. I've got lots photos of turkeys around the yard here. We are lucky to have plenty of wildlife where we live. We always try to keep a camera handy for some of the visitors. Have a great Saturday!

John, how about, "The answers will come if you are there to greet them."

I have never seen that many wild turkeys just hanging around on someones fence like that. Those are some real wild turkeys - maybe they got tired of drinking the rain and found an old still filled with moonshine or whiskey. Some of those guys look a little hung over, don't you think?

RAIN? We need it desperately here in Texas too.

Good Morning Patricia - I think this is the largest group I have seen in the yard. We have three Hawthorne trees in the front yard that bloom in May. Following the flowers, they berry. The berries turn red and remain on the trees through most of the winter and the berries attract many birds, including turkeys. Of course, by this time, the berries have fermented and the antics of all the birds are quite comical. I'll be doing my rain dance for you. I know how badly you need it. Hope you have an awesome day!
