Rain Camp 2011; Day Two, Scene Two!

Lunch! Yay! We went and sat on the patio of the restaurant next to the center, just steps away, here's Sally and I with the wind in our hair and the bay in the back! Life is good! (the glass of wine didn't hurt either....)

After lunch, we had Debe Maxwell/ Steve Shatsky giving us a presentation on who is the target audience of your blog?

· Buyers

· Sellers

· Agents

· Sphere of influence

· Members of community

Then they talked about what are good topics for each set of audiences. So much info...

The one thing that stuck out was when you send out a mailer, make sure it contains two styles of writing, one for the head and one for the heart, that way you are covered, no matter who reads it! That and market posts do get a following, huh, who knew!?!

A big thing that we might forget is: Internet is Forever! What you say stays there!

And during a break I got to meet one of my heroes: Chahhlie Buell! Woo hoo! Price of admission right there!!!

Bob came back up and talked about tools that Active Rain has available to every Rainmaker and how to use certain ones and even more websites that can help you make the most of your blogs. Where am I ever going to get the time to do all this?!?

Well it will certainly have to wait now, because I'm off to dinner & a certain B-Day Partaaaayyy! Hee Hee!

Tom, I made it day one with one minute to spare. Got into the airport in Seattle @7:35, had to walk the length of the airport to get my garment bag, found a cab driver to take me to my hotel to check in, then find another one to take me to the conference center. Walked in @ 8:59! Whew! Ears plugged from the airplane descent but as I'm standing in line to sign in, I see the vision that is Sally Weatherley walk out of the auditorium and look around. I knew it was her and said Sally! The rest is history! Although, it's raining today, the first day of rain since I got here, and my brand new raincoat is in Vancouver in Sally's van... :D

Amy, it would have been so fun to meet you! It is definitely worth the trip. Hands down. I don't think Chahhlie knew what hit him, he came up to me later, at the Hard Rock Cafe, and said he hadn't realized who I was for sure when I made him get his picture with me, but Sally and I were like school girls getting an autograph from Elvis! :D

Susan, the universe would NOT have been able to handle 3 Canadian women like us there. No Way! Worm Hole; sumpin' woulda happened like that! I had a Mahi Mahi fish taco with a side of clam chowder and a glass of white. MMMMMMmmmmmmm! :D

Sally! I was so depressed yesterday by the time I had walked home from the b-day party...then I got on Active Rain, and the first post i read is from Pam Miller. Weeping...

And of course, the law of averages, it is pouring here today. And I forgot my raincoat in your van yesterday! Doh! My cousin Karen and her sister Patty are taking me to Pikes Market and some other stuff, so I have until 11 am to find another rain coat! :D

Peg - Oh, no. I read Pam Miller's post and now I'm crying! Isn't that just Murphy's Law that it would rain today? I had a dreadful time getting home yesterday - apparently, they decided to re-pave the I-5 and there was road work for miles, stop and go the whole way. It added another hour to the trip home!

Hey, I just realized - Canada Post is on strike! Send me your address and I'll courier the jacket to you. Have fun in Seattle!

Sharon, I guess its the next best thing, but it would have been unbelievable if all my blog buddies had been there. I don't think it would have been a good idea, I'm not sure I would have been able to pay attention! :D

Susan, I heard more than one person on staff say they HAVE to have a Canadian Rain Camp now! Hee! I brought Canadian napkins to the BBQ! They won't forget us anytime soon! :D

Hi Peg! What a treat to get to meet you in Seattle! Thanks for the mention and believe it or not, my NINJA coach is the one that taught me about the one for the heart and one for the head mailing! It's true too and if you do a quick analysis of your clients when they're with you, you'll quickly be able to tell which category they're in!

What a blast we had and it seems that you girls DEFINITELY made the most of your time there! I'm ready for the next one already!

Debe, Thanx, it was wonderful meeting you and listening to your voice! Your presentation was awesome! I still have to go through all the notes I took! I had to smile when you and Steve used that youtube video as an example, because I had wrote a blog post about it once! Amazing video, and I loved the sign you and Steve made! sign

I will be trying the head and heart mailing for sure! It makes total sense.

We had to have as much fun as possible in a short time! I really don't get out much because I'm always working, one of the reasons I decided to come to summer camp, so that's why Seattle was taken by Canadian storm!

I saw on fb how your flight was! Ugh! Glad you finally made it safe and sound!
