They were the couple every REALTOR loves to work with. When the front door opened , you clicked right away. Greeted with a smile, little kids running around happy, wife and husband jabbing each other throughout our meeting. Beautiful House, manicured lawn. The kind of people you knew you would stay in touch with on a friendly basis long after the transaction closed. Brad and Renee, two little girls 2 & 4 and three teenage daughters from his first marriage. Selling this home to move into their dream home ,built together and waiting to be filled with love.

Sitting at the settlement table, laughing and complimenting each other on how great it was to work with one another. Off to the moving trucks to begin the next phase in this family journey.

Brad Died Suddenly the other day. A car accident after a relaxing day on the golf course, on the way home to a beautiful family in their new home. Wait, that can't be...We just had settlement...He just emailed me a testimonial. His wife has two little girls in this big new house. They haven't even unpacked yet. I sit stunned. Visions of our first meeting, his wife juggling two little kids while we talked. Fast forward to laughing at settlement and shaking hands....Visions now of his wife, juggling two little girls, no one laughing, just them in their new home....someone missing.

This journey, called Life....can take a sudden Detour in the blink of an eye. In an instant, your life can change or be taken from you. Make those phone calls to Family you have been meaning to get too. Tell the ones you love, Just That, You LOVE them. Hug your kids on the way out the door. Take that trip you have been thinking about. Sometimes Life doesn't seem fair, but none of us are promised tomorrow, only today.

Rest in Peace Brad. God Bless Your Family.

John, this is so sad! Our clients often come to feel like like family. The wife and kids are going to need a lot of support in these difficult times. Hopefully, they have family and friends nearby. My condolences.

What a tragedy.  I am so truly sorry to hear about the loss.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and kids as this has just got to be so hard for them.  The thought of someones wife sitting and unpacking their belongings sounds so hard to do.

Wow...how sad. Just terrible...I guess it's so true that life is so short - we need to make the best of every day! Count our blessings...over and over and over again...never know what tomorrow may bring.

Darleen & Joe..I can't even imagine what they are all going through. Kind of puts everything in perspective real quick. It is funny how close you get with clients sometimes in a short period of time in this crazy business. Just like that, unbelievable.

Hi John,  I know what Brad's wife is going through.  I lost my husband in a terrible accident also.  It teaches us to appreciate who we have in our lives.

Leslie, my condolences. I can't even pretend to know what it must be like. I just wanted to make people stop for a brief second and realize what is really important and how quickly it can all change. I know I did. We get so caught up in issues in this business, that in the long run mean what??

John, I just said a prayer for Brad's family.  It is really a sad story, but it helps us remember what is important in life.

I "really" know how this feels....we lost 2 of our clients...one died on the operating table, and it struck me hard.  And the other was a husband and wife that died in a horrible car accident right after recording on their way to bring their things to their new home.....

Life is indeed short, fragile, and unpredictable.....saying we love someone now before it is too late...yes, we all should do this.  Your Title is what caught my eye, as I didn't get to say goodbye to my client that died on the operating table....and it hit me very hard.

My condolences to all of you......This is a Beautiful Tribute.

John,

I remember when this happened to me last year.  I try to keep in contact with most of my clients and will call them from time to time.  In the middle of a very hectic day, the builder of their home called me to make sure I knew about Mr. Fraizer who died in a car wreck while the family was on vacation in Oklahoma. He'd seen an article in the local paper and just couldn't believe it.

Unfortunately, I hadn't heard this news and so it was a great shock to me. I'd just spoken to them about a month ago. It was actually quite difficult to continue my work after hearing this news.  Somehow, all this stuff I was working on just didn't seem to be so pressing, so I called my wife to tell her I loved her.

Thanks to all taking the time to read and comment. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to shake us back to reality and remember , like Ernie said, what is truly important.

Such a story makes us think and count our blessings.  May that family find some comfort in the wonderful times they had with this young man.
