So how are homes selling in St. Clair County Illinois this year as compared to May 2010? In May 2011 there was 184 homes that sold vs. last year 268 sold in May 2010. That is a long way from the 2006 total number of homes that sold, which was 357 houses that year. But we are on the increase for the year, as so far the numbers are running January 2011 at 122, Feburary was 153, March 173, and April 179.
And as the number of homes selling has gone down, so has the Median Home Price in St. Clair County.
Here are the median prices for the last six years: 2006 $123,600, 2007 $142,450, 2008 $132,000, 2009 $124,500, 2010 $127,350 and this year $117,450, which is the lowest home prices since 2006.
The 184 home sales in May 2011 represents the highest number of homes to sell since August 2010 when 196 homes sold that month.
With interest rates hovering around 4.67% and home prices being very low, it seems to be a logical time to buy a home.
