Keep those kids reading this summer with the Bellaire Library summer reading program.  The program started Tuesday, May 31st but it's not too late to get started.  The program will run through Aug 8th and participants can sign up any time.

Participants can earn all sorts of rewards including certificates for the Houston Astros, Chick-fil-A, Baskin-Robbins, What-a-burger and a splash pass.  Readers can also earn prizes like a jointed snake and oversized sunglasses, amongst other things.

Not sure what book to start with?  Check out the HISD Millionaire Reading Program reading lists and you'll find enough to keep you busy all summer long!  Whether you're looking for a good activity in the cool indoors or a little entertainment when you're out by the pool, a good book is just the ticket.

The library will be open this summer from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Worried about being out of touch?  No worries, the library is a hotspot!  Bring your own laptop and connect to WiFi anywhere in the building, even the parking lot.

The Bellaire City Library offers weekly story times for kids through age 7 during the summer.  Weekly story time for ages 0-24 months is Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and ages 2-7 is Wednesdays at 11:00 am.  And, Evening Story Time for ages 2-8 is on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and Mom and Dad are welcome, too!

The Bellaire library is located at 5111 Jessamine.
