Celebrate the sweet land of liberty at Bellaire's 2011 July 4th parade and festival.  Whether you want to come out to see a little red, white and blue or you want to deck out your car or bike and get in the mix, it's a fun time for all.

The parade begins at 9:30am on Monday, July 4th, at the Bellaire Triangle and travels down Bellaire Blvd and S Rice Ave.  Participation in the parade is free, but is limited to the first 75 entries and the deadline for entry is June 24th.  Participants are encouraged to decorate their car or truck to reflect the My Country ‘Tis of Thee theme.

A children's parade leads the big parade.  Young patriots can show their spirit by dressing up not only themselves, but also their two-wheelers, in stars and stripes.  Kids are encouraged to decorate trikes, bikes and wagons and meet by Community National Bank at Bellaire Blvd & Fifth Street.  No entry form is required for the children's parade, just show up at 9 am in the Community National Bank parking lot!

Not sure how to outfit your ride?  Some ideas might be to weave colorful crepe paper through bike wheel spokes. Tape lengths of ribbon to the handgrips and string the ends with beads or mini bells. Fly a helium balloon from the handlebars.  Decorate a t-shirt to wear while you ride.  There are a lot of craft materials that won't cost you a fortune and the kids have so much fun doing the decorating.  Make your children's bike decorating a family event and invite your neighbors!

The festival begins in Bellaire Town Square immediately after the parade at 10am and runs until 1pm.  Enjoy live entertainment, carnival games, food, a mini ferris wheel, petting zoo, moon jumps, dunk tank and much, much more!  Admission into the festival is free, but games require the purchase of tickets and food is for sale. Join for some patriotic, home town fun!
