Today's 25 Mile Bike Ride - Tri Training

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Florida Network Realty BK 3030920

I, with the help of a great friend (and my in-house loan officer) managed to rent a very nice high end road bike today for a training run for my upcoming sprint triathlon (two weeks away!) from Champion Cycling & Fitness in Jacksonville Beach.

I have not been on road bike in, um, many years.  So, to say I was nervous would be a bit of an understatement.

For those of you who know beach cruisers, and mountain bikes, those are like the draft horses, and hunter/jumpers, and the road bike is the thoroughbred race horse: a bit more finicky, not as stable feeling, and did I mention super skinny tires?

I got the feel of it over the first 4-5 miles, and got much more comfortable; it's definitely an adjustment.

If you get the chance, give it a try; they help you get to your destination SO much faster!

Cervelo Bike

This is very similar to the bike I road today !

You know, I had never even thought of renting a high end road bike in Florida. There are so few bicycle lanes and it's so humid I wouldn't have believed there would be much call for them. Yet, I'm going to be in Florida in a couple of weeks and you've given me a great idea!

Vickie- find a local bike shop; they know the roads and traffic and can direct you the best. I had an incredible ride down 1st Street in the Beaches to Ponte Vedra Boulevard (multi-million dollar homes) and back. It was fabulous!

Carol, I haven't ridden a bike for about twenty years, I don't know if I remember how. Good luck with your triathlon.

Hi Carol, you make an excellent point.  I have both a mountain and a road bike, the mountain bike is still my favorite but the road bike is much less effort.  Best wishes for the sprint triathlon!
