The baby boomers have reached their big birthday this year and along with that comes the largest generation that will need adaptive and modification help to reach their goals in the golden years. This includes a great incentive that the government has already approved in some states. A tax credit of $2000.00 or 50% of the cost for modifications to homeowner's that install ramps, widen doorways or even make bathrooms more accessible. Be sure to check what additional incentives you may be entitled to.
Boomers who have been responsible with their money, have sold their homes, have paid them off or do not have to sell in order to move, have been moving into 55+ communities in the Charlotte area and partying like... well, it's 1999. Bridge clubs, travel, golf, 19th holes. These are the golden years!
You are so right with your comment. But in additions to these communities, I have found that many seniors who are choosing to stay in their homes are not taking advantage of government incentives. I don't know if you ever saw the movie cocoon, but when birds flock together they stay together. When I visit with medical professionals in the home health field they tell me the same. Seniors are nesting more in their homes and as a result of this the home health industry is booming. The problem that they see is that there is hardly any retrofitting done to modify the homes for disabilities and universal design. Many consumers including the children of the seniors do not know where to go and who to get advice from. is this the task of a remodeling company that specializes in adaptations and where do you find these qualifications? CAPS?
