Checking a California Real Estate Licensee

By
Real Estate Agent with Dan Edward Phillips

If you are wondering if your California Real Estate Agent is licensed and if they have had any "Disciplinary Action" on their record by the California Department of Real Estate, here is the link to check:

http://www2.dre.ca.gov/PublicASP/pplinfo.asp

Type in your agent's name or licensee number and go to their licensee page.

The page will tell you if they are currently licensed.

Scroll down to the bottom and any 'Disciplinary Action' will be listed.

If you are working with a salesperson and want the information on their broker of record, click on the 'highlighted' 'employing brokers' licensee number and it will take you to the brokers listing.

Great info for the public (and other agents!) to know, Dan.  For those considering real estate transactions in California, don't just trust - but actually verify you are working with a licensed real estate professional.

Dan, I check on this website every once in a while, especially when I am dealing with an agent whome I feel is less than ethical. It's a good practice to get into.

Checking the licensee of an agent you are working with may be an 'eye opener'.
