A (fairly) quiet week for earthquakes
With only forty earthquakes for the week registered in the Intermountain West, we are below average to get to an estimated 700 for the year.
For those interested in figures: most were below 1.0, a few 2s and one bump on the southern UT border coming in at 3.4
With only the one exception, you could have been nearby most occurrences and would have felt little or nothing.
Utah experiences enough tremors to make my hobby of local earth movement observance, a pleasant relaxation. In other parts of the country occurrences are so frequent that observations might become an arduous task. I remind myself of this anytime I think of increasing my boundaries of interest.
As always, my studies of this area of science are provided to inform, not to alarm.
