When NOT to write a post.

Services for Real Estate Pros with Auto & Home & Life Insurance throughout North Carolina

There are many rules of engagement when blogging, none of which I follow or followed but I have learned a thing or two about not hitting the submit button and revisiting in the morning.  Here is what I've learned:

  • Don't post when you are angry or distraught about an issue, any issue.  Whether it be Political, Personal, Professional, or you just happened upon a bad batch of Saved By The Bell re-runs, just don't do it.  Sleep on it and revisit in the morning.  But before you do, watch an episode of Walker Texas Ranger just to balance out the Karma.
  • Don't post when you just had a fight with your significant other.  This can potentially lead to bad things.  Trust me, when I included this song just after a fight on a Valentine's Day Encounter... sex was stagnant for a week straight.  I slept on the couch for a month I heard about it for a year.
  • Don't post when you are simply downgrading any perceived competition to what you do for a living.  Most of the time it comes off either as sour grapes or you are riding the tails of some entity better equipped to do what you do than you.  Not good.  If I learned one thing from the movie, "Road House", be nice.  Be respectful.  They may still come after you, but you've done your particular job.  Be nice.  If they continue, berate them like their mother was your love slave in a MTV Snuff Film before MTV became non-music oriented.
  • Don't post when you are drunk or lacking any mental function that requires actual thought.  This should be an easy one to note, however we all know inhibitions and frontal lobes run away when encountered by their evil twin ... YOU!  If you want to world to see your Diary, feel free.  But if you want a future in Politics, save it for Twitter.
  • Lastly, Please do not post if your next Job Interview is with this guy:

Active Rain has enough to deal with at this moment in time.

Yours Truly,

The incipient pall of aspersions cast by these particular ramblings insinuate insights, which are doubtful at best ;-)

Karen - Nothing.  And nobody pissed me off.  I just wanted to write, so I wrote.  It is that simple.

Maybe I'm perpetually pissed off? ;)

Maybe selecting that "Draft" button and waiting 24 hours to select the "Post" button might be good advice.

Debi -  I wrote it with great humor.  Or lousy humor, depending upon your perspective.

Your comments are becoming legendary in my own mind, Sarasota:)  I do like your style.

Mike - I would agree.  And taking a picture with your camera phone for your profile pic on MySpace may also resonate in the "revisit" category.  I kid you ... kind of ...

Karen - No I have not.  No worries on QuickFreeMLS, I personally love his remarks, fits the bill.  Hope all is well with you and David.

Well done!   My first blog in the rain was subjected to comments from two well known bloggers who decided to drink-and-blog.   It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't pleasant, but it was a nice warning about what was to come.   I had to laugh when I recently re-read the guideline:

  • Get connected. At first ActiveRain may seem so big that you could never be heard, and so small and cliquish that you will never find your place. Everyone experiences this phenomenon! Our suggestion is to start off slow; read blogs, then start commenting on posts that interest you, and once you feel ready, blog away!

Uh, yeah, it just seems small and cliquish......<G>

OK well I thought this post was brilliant and excellent advice for both novices and so-called experts in the world of blogging.  And I hit the suggest button, reference to snuff-movie be damned :)

Go for it!

You're old enough now to run for president and more qualified than the current one. and his last opponent. You could post anything and have a staff to explain that's not what you said the next day! Even better you have a good looking First Lady! Can you image the Smithson's problem displaying Mr. Palin's ball gown?

It's strange you don't mention stimulants ether wet or aromatic.

Your identification with Screech is interesting, there was always wisdom buried in his babbling.

Jason...I think there are many people who should take this to heart...including myself at times.  Taking a deep breath and stepping back from the issue is a good thing.

I understand... I think. Who would use such a photo? That would be almost as bad as using a pic wearing casual attire like a sleeveless shirt. That would probably qualify as a revisit, wouldn't it??

Paybacks a bitch, especially when you think with the little head instead of the big head (and don't tell me you were thinking with the big head either - women know better than that).  :)

"You're old enough now to run for president and more qualified than the current one. and his last opponent."  Come on Bill, no I'm not.  Not yet and probably never.    You are right though, the First Lady in that exchange would be something pretty special.  They eclipse us men on many fronts, hence why I'm not afraid of a woman leading our country someday.   Maybe Pelosi will run in 2016;)

Tim - So do I.  However, I constantly counteract them with my actions.  That made me a rebel at 30 and a person with a low IQ at 34.  I suppose I need to lose the "classic underachiever" tag.

Tom - I'd like to think they were hazing your ass, but I'm probably wrong on that.  Proof in the pudding that nobody is perfect, not even if you have billions (or 500,000 or so) points on Active Rain.  When I learned that here and in life, it came to be that nobody intimidated me.  Maybe they were better at what they were doing and maybe they weren't.  But there was no way I would sit back and type or live looking at folks who rest on laurels alone and feeling inadequate.  Because I'm just as inadequate as they are.

Tanya - Love a gal with a sense of humor.  I'll sneak the snuff film bit on a featured post here before they pull the cord.  It's my destiny and all ;)

William - Me too, lad.  Me too ...

Donne - I wasn't and never (well, 'never' is 'always' an inappropriate term) will.   Easy senorita, us Gentlemen like me are a fragile bunch who fear strong and smart women.  And here comes Endre ...

Freaking has been :)  By the way, Endre, Donne has used that animation so much that ... well, I don't have a witty thing to say other than she uses it too much and I used to think I was funny until I saw her use it on one of Broker Bryant's Posts.  Then I knew I was at least kind of funny.

Debe - See you soon, Republican ;)

*shadblow* is the graphic.  The leadership around here keeps getting stranger.
