QR Codes and How We Use ThemQR Codes, Mobile Web and how we use them to Add Value to Our Services

Now to say that we are experts with QR Codes, Mobile Web and how to use them, is a bit of an overstatement, but we learn fast, and new user friendly technology is always exciting.

We know that more and more people are using their phones and or other mobile devices for Internet access anywhere they go.
However most traditional web sites, blogging services and other on line tools are still based on the larger more traditional monitors.
Hence the need for better more Mobile Device Optimized web sites, services and applications. With the rise of these services and sites, there was a need to create an easy way to gain access to these mobile optimized sites and services........ Presto the QR code is now the more or less universal answer to the dilemma of creating a quick, easy and effective access tool to the mobile web......

For the past 6 months developing an effective QR Codes system and implementation program was high on our priority list.

The Active Rain / Kodak June Mobile Marketing Challenge provided us with the perfect added incentive to pull out all the stops and do a few days of added research and make a few decisions and viola......

Peter and Linda Pfann are now QR'd or is it QR Capable, How about QRS.....

So, How do we Use these QR Codes, and the Mobile Web The Alphabet starts with "ABC".... Mobile Site Optimization, starts with  a QRS, short for a Quick Response Site (which for most of us translates into websites that are optimized for Mobile Devices.

There is no point having (a) QR code(s) blasted all over the stratosphere, that go(es) nowhere anyone wants to go.....So off we wnt and searched for a Pfanntastic Mobile Web Site Provider.

Hence our initial search was for a QRS service provider that offers:

  • A Quick, Easy and Simple Service and site.
  • Offers Administrative back office that a simpleton like me, figure it all out.
  • A Lead Capture system that allows us to follow up with inquiries quickly and professionally.
  • Has Analytical tools and systems that allow us not to have to learn more "Geek Stuff"
  • Offers a Clean, Easy, Attractive and Feature Packed Front end Site that Consumers will find attractive and beneficial.
  • Integrates easily with our other Web, Blogging and Social Media efforts.
  • Is offered at a price point that will not break the bank.

These were our main objectives even before we started to seriously looking into starting a  QRS or Mobile Web Site.

Please be aware we are in Canada, and in our Beautiful Country we are blessed with many amazing features and benefits, however quick, easy, affordable and compatible access to all the gizmo's and techno innovations in not always as simple.
After a few days of intense searching, reading testing and playing with a very short list of options we decided on RealBird    We do not want to bore you with the reasons why, but for us RealBird  is answering and solving all of the key concerns we had.

Once we had committed to RealBird, the rest was pretty simple and adding a QR code to our Active Rain Blogging signature was easy, below is the link and QR code to our Mobile Website as we added it to our Active Rain signature.;

Scan me with your smart-phone to bookmark our mobile website at http://victoriahomes.realbird.com

Next came the equally easy to enter listing information and creating a Mobile Listing Website and printable Listing Flier, was equally easy, with an added advantage that you can email this flier, complete with the QR code embedded

QR Codes and How we use them

Although this is not intended to be an article about RealBird, their system also offers quick postings of the listing at Craigslist, Active Rain, Face-book, Twitter etc., pretty handy tool all from an excellent interface and dashboard,

The Next Step was completing all the bio and contact information, links, pictures etc. to complete the Mobile webstite Here is a quick preview picture (note again the QR code at the bottom.

QR Codes and how we Use Them

Next We Created an updated Postcard for the un-addressed mailing we will send out for this new listing. notice the use of 2 QR codes, one that will direct you towards the property listing site, the 2 nd. QR Code will take you to our Mobile Device Optimized  Website, which includes buttons and or tabs to :

  • Links to all of our Social Media Services (including Active Rain)
  • Email, our Website, and our Outside Blog
  • Our Listings
  • A Search for Homes Option
  • A Tab for Real Estate News.

Here are both sides of the post card

QR Codes and how we Use Them

We then tested to make sure that the codes actually work, with our now ancient Blackberry (and or your Favourite Mobile device) go to your APP Store and search for and download one of the many Free QR Code Reading Applications.

Once installed, open the App, take a picture of the square QR code, and before your know it you will have acce
ss to the QRS or Mobile Device Optimized Website.

To us this is still just a little magical, and exciting,  yet very very cool to be able to get all this excellent information and be able to read it, use it and answer many questions just by using your phone (I know, I know we are showing our age).

Next we created to Self Adhesive Labels for the Listing as well as one for our Mobile Website and here they are:

Finally We created a Sign that can be added to the listing sign at the property, and offers both the specific Listing Information, as well as a link to our Mobile Website. This is what is looks like.

We hope that you enjoyed our little outline how we are implementing new technologies for the benefit of marketing our listings and our Real Estate services for our buyer and seller clients.

We hope that you can see the benefits of  QR Codes, Mobile Web and how we use them to Add Value to Our Services

Hi Peter & Linda - Thanks for a very informative and useful post. Mary & I are just getting started with QR codes and mobile websites and you've given us a lot of ideas. One of the cool things we found in another post was QRJumps - a free QR code-generating site that offers a dynamic QR code - that is, you can change the url assignment. This will allow us to print nice and hardy QR signs that can be reassigned to new listings after the original one sells.

HI chris,

thanks for your feedback, must admit that the current Kodak contest, has acted as some motivation to"get it Done" and now that we have a few systems in place for it, we are very happy with the results so far, in addition, it is a lot of Pfunn....

Try it, you will enjoy the many ways you can use it.
