Juxtaposition. What a word! Now I can almost see how it can be used.

Driving down a street in Searcy brought me to this interesting site of an old house being torn down?  Or built up?  Partly torn down and part of the old being used again?

It was a puzzle but when I saw the juxtapositioning of the old wood and the new wood panels, I understood what the word means.  Compare the old wood inside the old walls of this house with the pressed wood new stuff.

The boards were real boards, perhaps reused if you consider the paint on some of them.  Furthermore, I'll bet that paint has lead in it!  The house was very old, very small and I wondered why the owners didn't just tear it down and start over.

Then I had to drive to Beebe and my lesson on juxtapositioning was reinforced with this site.  I'd driven by several times since the latest storm damage that happened in Beebe about two months ago but this time I took a picture.  Note the new windows and siding but the old roof with shingles that date back so far.

Again I wondered whether it was going back up with repairs or coming down.

Barbara - These are some great examples. Unfortunately we have several homes that look like this due to the tornadoes we had this spring.

Thanks, Don.  I don't know why they always discontinue the newsletter to me.  I figured they just don't like me.  But it was nice to be featured and for you to tell me about it.
