CANADA DAY JULY 1 LA FETE DU CANADA

announcement

For anyone in the Montreal area this weekend, especially the West island, this is one of those you'll regret missing.

For those who don't know, the Pointe-Claire village is the original area of the pioneering French farming village that developed this end of the island. Around this the modern city of Pointe-Claire has grown, but the character, many of the structures, lots of the 'families' have remained.

This is a real village. It has charm, identity and lots of interesting shops, stores and businesses. (No chain stores here).

Boutique Lois Butler, where the sale is, is just one of them, but it's one that should not be missed.

This Canada Day weekend has lots of events, great food variety, children's events and fireworks in the evening. Enjoy your shopping and your 'finds' and don't miss the parade, it's the real thing.

Robert, this does sound like an event that locals should get out to and enjoy their day. Canada Day on a Friday doesn't happen often (perhaps about once every 7 years), so this year will be super good.

Well Steve that's what happen when you can't stay on your horse. Things tend to go south.

Hi Malcolm, yes thats true, it makes it a long 3 day weekend for a great many and here in Quebec its the second long weekend in a row as last Friday was St-Jean Baptiste, nominally a religious holiday but effectively celebrated as Quebec Day.

Thank you Dan. And yes it would be a great time. The jazz festival is still on too.

How many Canada Days do you have? Didn’t you just have a Canada Day a few weeks ago? Of course, I remember when I was younger I used to celebrate my monthaversary, which was the monthly anniversary of my birthday. Now I just celebrate my birthday once every five years. JJJJ

Robert,

Is the boutique Lois Butler a family affair?

I would love to make it up to that part of Canada again. I was in Quebec a few years back but really did not have enough time to truly explore it.

Hi Russel, you're probably thinking of provincial holidays, like St-Jean Baptiste which was last week here in Quebec. All provinces have one. Who doesen't want a summer holiday? But there's only one Canada Day. It's on the first, yours is on the fourth, so Happy Fourth of July my friends.

You picked up on that Don. Yes it's my wife's store. When I'm not unpacking boxes and hauling out garbage I get to use my PC and play in the 'Rain'. (Like now.)
