Saw the sign in Kihei at the Farmers Market.  Do you think that's a good price for a coconut or not?

Love these photos. They really capture the spirit andcolors of the islands. Can't comment on the pricing of the nuts, however. I guess part of what you are paying for is the labor to pick 'em.

Hi Georgina~

As I opened your blog ...and we captured by the photo tonight...I had the feeling of an art work in progress..possibly a quilt...and I have the idea that coconuts must be harvested by hand or high winds...at what cost I do not know....

Jeff and janeAnne - thanks for the aloha.  Yes to get the best nuts, somebody has to climb the tree to cut down a bunch, unless they are lucky enough to have low-bearing trees.  Once they fall from the tree they are usually pretty mature and the meat is firm and sweet.  Around here a lot of folks like them softer and younger.

We have so many but are too lazy to sell them.  Now that I see they could be worth $3 bucks each I think it's time to reconsider!  If this real estate thing doesn't work out I might have to start a little fruit stand.... haha.

Nuts, yumm! I bought 3 large containers just the other day in the supermarket. My little granddaughter ate a cup of cashews as soon as she saw them!

I'll take one of those coconuts...just put a little ice and something, something in it to make me happy.
